Una Mejor Filipinas - A Better Philippines TL

What makes the nation a nation ~~ Anonymous

Preface

The TL is focuses on a different philippines whether the Philippines is balkanized or not in this TL does not matter but for me this is the better scenario, the Spanish and the Americans still conquer the Philippines, but two different things happen..

1.Northern Philippines meaning Batanes down to Bulacan and Northern Metro Manila will be speaking an Alternate Version of Pangalatok or Pangasinense as their linguafranca, in this TL Pangasinense swallowed Gaddang, Irraya and the original languages spoken in Bulacan and Nueva Ecija which caused it to turn into a linguafranca, in Short Northern Luzon is more of a nation, the minority languages in Luzon are Ibanag, Kapampangan and Ilocano..Tagalog and Bikol are minority languages spoken in Southern Luzon..

I noticed that Pangasinan is more positioned to dominate Luzon...before a certain era..

2.There is a common visayan language..Spoken from Southern Luzon down to Northern Mindanao..

On 1590, the population of Pangasinan and started to settle Nueva Ecija and increase as well, the flood that continued to happen in Pangasinan would cause a part of the population of Pangasinan to go to Nueva Ecija, Ituy and Bulacan, the population of the settlers would increase.

The population of Pangasinan would become loyal to the Spanish in the same way as the people of Pampanga are.

The parts of the area of the Kumintang Province would be fiercely Moro and the Spanish would have difficulties conquering parts of it, which would later .

After the Gaddang revolt in the early 17th century, the areas decimated by the Spanish were settled by immigrants from Pangasinan, the same thing happened in the Ladia revolt where in the people from Pangasinan would migrate to the areas devastated by the revolt.

“The Maniago Revolt was an uprising in Pampanga during the 1660s. It was a revolt against the Spanish during the colonial period and was named after its leader, Francisco Maniago. During that time, Pampanga drew most of the attention from the Spanish religious Orders because of its relative wealth. They also bore the burden of more tribute, forced labor, and rice exploitation. They were made to work for eight months under unfair conditions and were not paid for their labor and for the rice purchased from them. Their patience was put to the limit and they signified their intention to revolt by setting their campsite on fire. The fight soon began and because the Spaniards were busy fighting against the Dutch, they were badly depleted by the Kapampangans. The Maniago revolt was the start of a much bigger and even bloodier revolt in Ilocos. This battle was led by a man named Pedro Almazan who had heeded the call of Maniago to revolt against the Spaniards.

A part of the chain to the Maniago Revolt was the Ilocos Revolt led by Don Pedro Almazan, illustrious and wealthy leader from San Nicolas, Laoag, Ilocos Norte. The letters sent by Don Francisco Maniago narrating the defeat of the Spaniards in his area and urging other provinces to rise in arms failed to obtain any support among the natives. During the revolt, Don Pedro Almazan proclaimed himself "King of Ilocos", but was later captured and executed. He also had a son which the Ilocanos proclaimed their prince.“

The Maniago revolt would not be popular in Pangasinan as they are benefiting in the Spanish rule, however the Province of Balayan the Province that has some muslim population will join the revolt against the Spanish.

The Maniago revolt is three pronged, in Balayan we would have an Andres Ladia, a son of the former leader of a previous Kapampangan revolt who leads a new revolt.

This is the linguistic map of Luzon in this scenario...

Doesn't that have to be 'una Republica Filipina mejor' or something? 'Filipinas' (as in Las Islas Filipinas) is clearly plural, and therefore 'A/One' simply cant be used with it. Also, adjectives normally follow nouns rather than preceding them, no?

Maybe 'Las Filipinas mejores' ???
(No hablo Español, soy gringo, pero...)

Why not use a native language like Pangasinense, since that's the ethno-linguistic group you're focusing on here?

In this time the original population of Bulacan, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija would start to be assimilated by the people from Pangasinan and in Upper Cagayan and Zambales area there is a significant population of people who are from Pangasinan in culture and speak the Pangasinan language.

The Maniago revolt was considered a big threat because there are still muslims in the Province of Balayan and they could get help from Sultan Kudarat, however the Spanish try to cover it because it is a big threat to them and would want to save their own face, in this time a widespread Chinese revolt happens supported by Koxinga.

The Spanish abandoned the forts in Ternate and their efforts in Mindanao to end the Maniago revolt and export the people of Ternate, the Merdicas to Ternate in Cavite, the Spanish were able to end the revolt of Maniago and Almazan as well as of the younger Ladia, the Merdicas helped in destroying the revolt in Ilocos, Pampanga and the province of Balayan.

The Muslim population in the Province of Balayan that remained muslim before the revolt is forcefully converted to Catholicism and a revolt ensured and many were killed in the quelling of the revolt of the muslims of Balayan.

There were many visayans from Iloilo were settled in the part of Balayan that were muslim which would cause the language of the Province of Balayan and Iloilo to have close ties.

The Spanish chose to write in the history books that Koxinga was the threat since Koxinga was encouraging the Chinese people to revolt in the Philippines.

IV

A group of chieftains from Zambales had refused to accept the authority of the Crown over their realm and staged a revolt. The Spanish were very swift to respond and sent a colonial force of 6,000 foot soldiers to suppress the uprising. After 2 years of conflict, the Spanish had pacified the entire area of Zambales and all of the chieftains who participated in the revolt were executed.

After that Zambales has been settled by people from Pangasinan, causing the area to be Pangasinan speaking.

On Visayas the Panay revolt would cause the Visayans from Cebu and Iloilo to resettle parts of Panay that had casualties on the Panay Revolt.

note: I yet to have ideas, so this is what we will see the next chapters and how the consequences of the earlier events unfolds..
