2020: Chuka Umunna (Labour)

So, the Tories and Labour appear very keen on changing leaders while in power, the SDP survives, John Reid seemingly renders Labour unelectable for a decade and a half, but it would appear that Chuka Umunna plays the part of the 'British Obama' that he's tipped to and leads them back to power. Labour also gets the first woman and first ethnic minority PMs. Both thanks to me, I notice... ;)

If Hugh Gaitskell became Prime Minister in 1959 subsequent election dates would differ from OTL. That is the difference between alternative prime ministers of nation states without fixed term parliaments, and alternative US presidents.

yes I know, however there being no other way I could think of do it, I went with an ATL that had elections fall on the same years, any way people are free to add or change years if they'd like

The SDP also gets the second woman, second Catholic and presumably the shortest ever Prime Minister (Sarah Teather is only 4 foot 10).
