UK in a world without WW-II

Imagine a timeline in which Hitler is dead very young, Weimar Republic with some luck survive,Mussolini stay quiet satisfied with his little Empire, Stalin stay in his immense sub continent killing periodically a lot of comrades and Japan is not so crazy to challenge the whole world.
Imagine a world without WW-II or others big wars.
In a timeline like this, what about UK?
Labour can go at government and make social laws like those of 1945,or without the immense debt caused by the war is more moderate?
What about society and class system, culture and the Empire?
Decolonizzation is the same that in our timeline?
And what about London intact without bombing?
And...without war we have a baby boom in 40s in this timeline?

Good questions, the one I can handle is decolonization. It proceeds at a much slower pace. OF course Churchill is never prime minister.

Without the war Labour wouldn’t get into government.
The Conservatives would win the 1940 election and institute Chamberlain's social reforms including national health insurance.
With the economy improving and social reforms in place this should see a Conservative government returned again in 1944.

In this rosy scenario, Labour might not attract enough votes to get a parliamentary majority. They might in the 1960s start campaigning for a proportional representation type of system.

It's often overlooked that the 1920s saw the beginning of the end for the position of the 'ruling classes' and also for the first shoots of women taking a better position in society. If the scenario avoids the Depression, or that event is less profound, the changes to society would probably have gained momentum.

As for the Empire, the Indian Question wouldn't go away and the terms of its solution would give the clue to the shift from Empire to Commonwealth. A Dominion of India by the 1940s would I think inevitably prove a catalyst to decolonisation in Africa etc.

See my views above.

I'm not sure this would alter life significantly (and even were the IRA to step up a bombing campaign, it wouldn't match the Blitz), inevitably old buildings would go and new ones arise but at least London would avoid the period of bomb sites and hurried rebuilding.

And...without war we have a baby boom in 40s in this timeline?
Doubtful - and there wouldn't be the loss of life from a WW2. Marie Stopes and her successors would as in OTL gradually be educating women about birth control.

Doubtful. Or rather, doubtful that decolonisation would be as early as OTL. Decolonisation only really began after Suez, and was based on an economic/political calculation. No war would certainly change the economic side of that, and as for the political side, who knows.

Before the war Britain had passed a bill to make India a Federation.
So it is possible that after independence India would be seperated into different nation states today.

Government of India act 1935.
The war meant it never came into place.

Thank you, World! :) You have reminded me to put it in my TL. :D

Back to topic: I guess that anti-colonial sentiments might rise earlier indeed, but I'm pretty sure that decolonization itself will be delayed. ;) Either way, the British Empire will definitely remain a superpower for a much longer time.
