UK-French Close Cooperation

As we know, after Suez crisis, some in UK have proposed a British-French Union. French refused. But, what if British proposed special relations instead and if French accepted?

What consequences?
What forms would that cooperation have?

Franco-British relations are fickle and subject to constant change and have done so over the past century. With constant changes in government in Britain, France and the U.S. each altering their stances towards one another with a degree of frequency. In the long term I doubt it would last. It may generate a more isolationist sentiment in Britain but it's hard to see one on the same level as that of France in the 60's.

Any co-operation would probably revolve around limited military co-operation as OTL - larger projects like nuclear deterance are likley to fall appart if Britain lacks a strong decisive government.

Pardon the nationalist sentiment but it was the French who wanted an Anglo-French Union and it was the British who refused.;)

No, they did not. The French PM Guy Mollet proposed it to Eden. Eden took one look at it and moved on. It was never widley publicised at the time and there was little interest afterwards from either party - virtually none in fact.
