UCS Questions

A few questions about the UCS:

-> What is the latest version? I've seen some with just the Colonial Powers (and Russia), some with most major powers and some which give Serbia, Romania and Hungary colours.

-> Is there a formula for determening the shade a Personal Union should be?

-> What actually is Susanoism and is it the preferred method?

-> How would you show a secessionist state (e.g. Abkhazia) or fronts in a civil war. Specifically, how would you show a civil war in Bosnia between Bosnians, Croats and Serbs where Serbia is supporting the Serbs but Croatia is neutral?

1. I think Thande has an updated version in his new thread but any version will work as long as it has the major ones. And if you have any common sense then I advise you to pick one with fewer colors.

2. Not really. There are some darker shades for Spain/Naples and Britain/Hanover but that's about it. Unless if you include British Dominions, but that’s a different story.

3. Susanoism is a religion based on Germany wankage and undecipherable map schemes. :D (actually it's just reversing the scheme of outlining puppet states... I think)

4. Usually doted lines for the area that wants to secede. If a country has a color then the secessionist group will probably be shown in white and without boarders in the area they control. If the country in question has no colors then we just ignore it.

The "standard" one is this one. Thande's is specific to his database thread, you needn't worry about it.

You don't really need to figure out the exact shade, but if you want, here is something you can do:

Download Paint.NET if you don't already have it. It is like the default paint which comes with Windows, but much better, with features like transparent colors, layers, etc., but still just as easy to use (its style is very similar). Open up the UCS in it, and use the color picker tool (eyedropper or pipet) to select the color who's personal union you want to show. In the color window (press F8 to bring it up if you don't see it), click on the "more" button to get a breakdown of the various parts of the color. Move the "V" slider towards the darker end by 25 or just type in a number that is lower by 25 to get the personal union shade. PM me if you need screenshots.
