In 1492 Christopher Colombus sails west, and simply vannishes. Europe after a while moves on thinking the madman Colombus just sailed off the edge of the world. Even Portugese ships that sail to far to the west mysteriously disappear.
In the year 1580 a huge armada of ships appear from over the Western horizon. They are at least 100 years more advanced (early eighteenth technology) and are crewed by a people that while not human hold some resemblance of humanity to them.
The crews of the ships are of a different human species, more advanced than the humanity as we know it. They have rudimentary psychic powers and are intent on crushing all who stand before them, especially what they view as human vermin with their pathetic concepts of love, art and culture.
How do the Monarchs of Europe react to this first onslaught against the human realms???
So what am I looking for:
- Ideas on a different humanesque society without familial attachments, love, art or culture. All energy is directed towards more important tasks!
- What would the likely response be of a 1580's Europe (keep in mind they do not have the American colonies)
- How would the small outposts on the African coast fare?
Once I have worked out the timeline to a sufficent degree I will post it here and move onto the next era of what I hope will become a fascinating new world.
