Two Queries...

Hey Guys,

I have two questions on the Napoleonic Wars that I don't get/know. These are all about OTL as well, nothing to do with a TL or AH.

Firstly, was the reason Napoleon couldn't defeat Russia because his army was so huge, he couldn't face the Russians in a full-on field battle and destroy their army. Thus he was forced to charge at them until the French reached Moscow. If his army had managed to destroy the majority of the Russian army within a couple of months of fighting would the Russians have surrendered (a little bit of AH there I know).

Secondly, what did Napoleon have planned for a beaten Russia? Or did he just wish to subdue it and with no major land-changes? If he did want to make any land changes that are worthy of talking about does anyone have a map that shows his planned land changes?

Hey Guys,

1. Napoleon lost to Russia because he insisted on fighting eery battle they offered him e.g. Borodino. These had little strategic gain and did notthing but over-extend his supply lines. The Russian army was much larger than Nappy's and could therefore sustain more casualties. Then, of course, there's the Winter, but by that point he'd basically already lost. Coupled with Russian commanders not giving a damn about their own country (burning Moscow) and he couldn't win with the strategy he used i.e. kil everyone y can.

2. As for a successful campaign, it depends on how it comes about. He'd probably give Russian land to the Duchy of Poland, maybe resurrecting the PLC. Might also give land to the Ottomans and maybe Austria?
