Two Americas Confederate States Presidential Election, 1975

Who do you support?

  • Total voters
    17
  • Poll closed .
So, the choices are...

Howard Baker, a moderate senator from Tennessee for the Constitutionists...

...or Jimmy Carter, a liberal Democrat from Georgia. Should he get in, he will sign a civil rights bill which will abolish segregation, which has the support of the majority of Democrats and moderate Constitutionists.

Their running mates are Kit Bond and Lloyd Bentsen respectively.

EDIT: Mods, please move this thread to "Alternate History Books and Media" where I was supposed to put it but placed it here without thinking.

I don't see either as viable candidates in 1975 in an independent Confederate States of America. The Eastland, Stennis, Thurmond crew would be in charge. Their candidates would have been George Wallace types.

I didn't write the TL, I found it on althistory wikia.

Although at a guess, I'd say...

Eastland: defeated in the 1957 and 1963 Constitution Party primaries.

Stennis: Has his mind on the 1981 Election

Thurmond ran in 1957, Wallace in 1969. In the original TL, both were successful, but AH.com chose otherwise.
