So, just for funsies, I have decided to open up this collaborative timeline, since I haven't seen one in a while. This one is going to run from July 1st, 1992, all the way through to July 1st, 2012.
A few guidelines:
- Don't jump way ahead of the timeline. If we're all posting about '92 dates, don't start posting about the mid-2000s.
- Try to avoid killing politicians off unless when absolutely necessary. Some of these things make being a certain political party an extremely dangerous spot.
- Let's try and mix things up, but don't go too crazy. Nothing is set in stone, so don't post about someone being "future President of the United States" or anything like that. Set things up logically and chronologically.
So, here's the first POD:
July 1992: The reports of Ross Perot's private investigation of the Bush Family in the late 1980s are delayed in some unfortunate bureaucratic tape, resulting in the stories not surfacing until very late July.
July 3rd, 1992: In reaction to gay activists appearing at a Perot rally, the presidential candidate declares his opposition to gays serving in the military and his cabinet, creating a gaffe when he refers to them as "you people".
July 7th, 1992: Doctor Bernadine Healy accepts the position as Ross Perot's running mate for the 1992 Presidential election.
July 14th, 1992: Acting in her position as Vice Presidential candidate, Bernadine Healy gives a great speech in from of the NAACP, managing to nab the black vote for Ross Perot's campaign.
July 20th, 1992: Bill Clinton turns heads by officially offering the position of Vice President to Jesse Jackson of South Carolina, hoping to counter Perot's black vote.
