The 1990 version of Match Game is a revival of the old Match Game, hosted by Ross Shafer, announced by Gene Wood, produced by Mark Goodson Productions and it was aired on ABC between July 16, 1990 and July 12, 1991.
Ross Shafer however indicated the move on the final episode of the run that was aired on ABC that the show will move to CBS for its second season.
Shortly after ABC cancelled the version, CBS however picked it up, and it was considered to replace Family Feud, but CBS executives realized that the show decided to use the version as a substitute for the daytime repeats of Designing Women instead and however came to pass.
However Mark Goodson agreed that CBS pick up the version for its second year. CBS agreed to have the second season to have a July 15, 1991 start date, preceding Family Feud.
