Let's Make a Deal is a game show hosted by Monty Hall, announced by Jay Stewart, produced by Stefan Hatos-Monty Hall Productions, and it was aired first on NBC from 1963 to 1968 then ABC from 1968 to 1976 followed by primetime and syndicated versions, ranging from 1967 to 1977, included was a short-lived NBC primetime run from 1967, the ABC primetime version from 1969 to 1971 then moved to syndication from 1971 to 1977. The show spawned many revivals, included was the Canadian run from 1980 to 1981, The All New Let's Make a Deal from 1984 to 1986, a network revival first hosted by Bob Hilton then the original host from 1990 to 1991, an attempt called Big Deal in 1996 and a short-lived attempt in 2003 before landing its way to the current version with host Wayne Brady on CBS in 2009.
For the week of December 1-5, 1975, Deal temporary expanded to a full hour, then it was expanded to boost ratings with more bigger prizes for a full hour on December 29, 1975, cancelling the two shows Showoffs and Rhyme and Reason. Showoffs' replacement was however a Regis Philbin game called The Neighbors, which landed at noon, while The $10,000 Pyramid temporary expanded to a full hour on the week of December 29, 1975-January 2, 1976, while General Hosptial and One Life to Live aired on the slots of 3:30pm and 4:00pm on The Edge of Night (which did not air this week)'s time slot. Shortly afterwards, ABC however took the 11:00am slot back on January 19, 1976 where Pyramid permantly expanded to a full hour with much bigger prizes with more than $10,000. The Neighbors finally cancelled for good on April, replacing it with a new Tom Kennedy game called Break the Bank, which produced much better ratings than The Neighbors.
The Edge of Night and Break the Bank finally canned for good on July 9, 1976, replacing it with Hot Seat and Family Feud. However ABC decided to expand the soaps One Life to Live and General Hospital to 45 minutes to replace repeats of Happy Days on July 26, 1976. Hot Seat however didn't last as long on the noon slot, replacing with The Don Ho Show. Don Ho, didn't last as long, replacing it with Second Chance. On April 25, 1977, All My Children expanded to a full hour plus they make the 10:00am hour. As a result of the scheduling shuffle, Deal ran at 10:00-11:00am, followed by Pyramid at 11:00-12:00am followed by Second Chance at noon and the 2pm slot was filled by Family Feud, and the 4pm timeslot returned to stations. On July 18, 1977, The Better Sex premiered on ABC, replacing Second Chance. The Better Sex was canned for good on January 13, 1978, with Feud moving to the noon slot and the two soaps could expand from 45 minutes to an hour.
