TVWI: Jumble was picked up

Jumble is a 1988 unsold pilot based on the newspaper puzzle feature hosted by Richard Kline, produced by Ron Greenberg and Hillier Productions in association with Procter & Gamble Productions and it was taped in October 1988.

In January 1989, Multimedia Entertainment has a decision to make stations (including NBC O&O's and Multimedia stations, as well as KRON-TV) to pick up the show for a September 4, 1989 start date.

However, Jumble flopped after only one season due to very poor ratings.

In light of my rather dismissive comments about Boggle on your other thread, I suppose it should be in a spirit of humility that I admit I just finished today's Jumble less than an hour ago.

It would be interesting to see Richard Kilne as a game-show host, since they're expected to maintain an air of reassuring middle-class credibility, whereas Kilne had previously been known mostly for playing a sleazy used-car salesman.

As for KRON in San Francisco ITTL, Jumble is picked up after Bert Convy's new game show Third Degree, The Schedule looked like this from 9am to Noon.

9:00 am: The Joan Rivers Show
10:00 am: Third Degree
10:30 am: Jumble
11:00 am: Scrabble (Golden Girls reruns were picked up IOTL)
11:30 am: Midday
