- From the Empty Bar section of the March 11, 1974 edition of Broadcasting Magazine, pg. 6Feverish revisions of scripts for next season's Gunsmoke was under way at the end of last week to write Miss Kitty out of the series in which character has been featured in all of CBS-TV program's 19 years. Amanda Blake, who played role from the beginning, quit last Tuesday, week before shooting was to start (March 13) on next season's episodes.
Barbara Paley went to Gunsmoke where he reversed the decision to get Amanda Blake back to the show for $2000 (ITTL). Amanda Blake was forced to change his hair color of Miss Kitty from red to yellow-orange the next season (ITTL). Blake asked that Leonard Katzman will not to direct "The Sharecroppers" (ITTL). Instead she asked Hawaii Five-O and The Mary Tyler Moore Show title designer and director Reza S. Badiyi to direct the episode (ITTL). The show's stars, as well as the Gunsmoke production crew and the sponsors all didn't care for Badiyi. (ITTL)
Fully ITTL, IOTL Amanda Blake simply departed from the show and Leonard Katzman was to direct "The Sharecroppers".
