I'm not sure whether a multivote measure really makes sense unless there is a tie vote. But I recall seeing runoffs and revotes on last years turtledoves, so this is the way it's done. Actually, I'm not sure what the math looks like this at all.

Arguably, Multiple Voting is a fair way to handle things.

Want A to win, vote only for A.
Want A, B, or C to win, vote for those three.
Don't want Z to win, vote everything except it.

I guess I'd like to know what the margin for winning outright, as opposed to a runoff, would be. L&T has a crushing lead of 20% of the vote. It will win at least by a margin of 3 to 2.

The heck? I thought Laughter & Tears had a clear plurality?

As handed down by robert, to win a turtledove requires receiving a majority of votes, not a plurality. Any vote where no one gets a majority requires a run-off vote between the two highest polling options. Note that it is possible for the leader in the initial vote to lose the run-off, either because people consolidate their votes, change their votes, or you have some people who voted before who don't vote, or you have some people who didn't vote vote.

It's what it is. Having a multiple choice first round vote helps counter vote splitting (though not perfectly), and thus might decrease run-offs.

I'm good either way. With "Tail-Gunner In The Pilot's Seat", Wolfpaw wrote an excellent timeline that I've enjoyed since the beginning, and he was one of the earliest and most enthusiastic supporters of "A World Of Laughter, A World Of Tears".

I just discovered this poll about two seconds ago!

I'm honored just to be part of the run-off. While Tail-Gunner's good (enough people have told me that I've started to believe it by now ;)), A World of Laughter, A World of Tears definitely deserves to win.

I (and so many others) have said it before and I'll say it again; WOLWOT is the best TL there is on AH.com, bar none. Stat has managed to give us a scenario so engrossing, so masterfully written, so heart-wrenchingly dark and believably warped that it is beyond compare.

It has and will continue (I hope) to inspire future AH.commers, not only stylistically, but also with regards to its deft attention to butterflies that the rest of us so often overlook, especially cultural butterflies (Kerouac in Berlin? Welles & Wood? What's not to like?).

I am proud that if I had to lose a contest to any timeline, it was this one.

Congratulations, Stat! I'm so happy for you, and I hope you stick around on AH.com for years to come!

Hey, if I had to be up against any timeline, I'm glad that it was yours. You've got scrapbook style down to a science, and your knowledge of the political scene of the time is impressive as all hell.

Anyway: Thank you to everyone who voted for me, and thanks to everyone I was up against for providing me with literally hours of entertainment and pleasant surprises with your own timelines. You're an incredible group of writers.

But mostly, thanks to my parents' generation and my grandparents' generation for not letting it happen like that.

I'd also like to thank.

What?

Oh, shit. Um...you haven't seen me, okay? I WAS NEVER HERE.
