Turkey would likely face a greater time suppressing the Kurds (who would be a larger group in Turkey). Shia power in Iraq would become stronger without the SUnni Kurds to balance the religious demography. Iraq could potentially sponsor Kurdish rebellions in Turkey and Iran during the COld War (with Soviet backing).
If ISIS still forms like OTL, they would likely have less power without Mosul being in their hands.
Why would no Mosul Vilayet = No Hashemite monarchy in Iraq, though?ISIS is surely butterflied away. There would be totally different situation on this scenario. Even Iraq would be totally different. No Hashemite dynasty to Iraqi throne - No Baathist revolution - No Saddam Hussein - No invasion 2003 - No ISIS.
He was talking about Sunni Kurds whereas I am also thinking of Sunni Arabs, though.Yes, that is what he said. Fewer Sunnis(no Kurds) means Shia are a larger percentage of the population.
If Iraq gets Kuwait, could it eventually also try acquiring eastern Saudi Arabia (as in, the Shiite-majority parts)? The British might then have incorporated Kuwait into Iraq from the start. Iraq without either Kuwait or Mosul would be a very weak country.
And that would have produced some butterflies.
