I don't know if it would make that much of a difference. This is during what is essentially the least interesting part of the region's history. And although many people would die, the Temple Mount won't suffer all that much damage. Unless some doomsday cult starts up because of it, I don't know that any of the three religions would be too bothered by it.IMHO, the religous world (but really the world in general) would be alot better off...

Yes. The Dome of the Rock would be destroyed, but the actual Temple Mount doesn't have any structure to be damaged.I think he meant the literal raised area of earth (which is the bit that's holy to Jews, for the record)
