Tunguska Event in Jerusalem

What would be the impact in the religious world, if the asteroid or comet destroyed Jerusalem in 1908?

The impact would be much greater in the religious sphere, Jerusalem is sacred to Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
The city at the time was only 30000 inhabitants, it would be a very different political scenario if hit for example, London, Washington or Berlin.

IMHO, the religous world (but really the world in general) would be alot better off...

(bracing myself for responses)
I don't know if it would make that much of a difference. This is during what is essentially the least interesting part of the region's history. And although many people would die, the Temple Mount won't suffer all that much damage. Unless some doomsday cult starts up because of it, I don't know that any of the three religions would be too bothered by it.

What's left of Jerusalem is under Ottoman control, and if I were Sultan, I'd make another Dome of the Rock that's even more glorious than the original. The Jews and Christians aren't going to like it, but no one is going to invade the Ottoman Empire to stop a building project.
