Tunguska Event Hits Paris?

So, in choosing a "target" for the Tunguska Event I think the one that would have the most impact in 1908 would be Paris. Not only is it a massive city, it also has huge cultural value to the Western World and is the capital and economic center of a massive colonial empire.

So lets say on June 30th 1908 Paris is destroyed by a huge comet. What happens to the rest of the twentieth century?

And was the French railway network developed at this time since I know from all the "German Empire captures Paris" topics that Paris is also the hub of the French railway network.
