Truman Orders Patton To Attack Zhukov In August Of 1945

1. Truman orders Patton to attack Zhukov after the Japanese surrender.
2. Truman escapes impeachment because the Democrats and Republicans have less than 67 Senators, and the Conservative splinter party backing Truman has enough to block them.
3. The American troops mostly stop fighting and just go west towards home.
4. Some officers and noncommissioned officers are shot, some are left behind to fight the Russians by themselves with a few other soldiers. At least at first. After the first week, they pretty much don't try to fight the Russians by themselves.
5. By the end of the month the Russians occupy all of Germany east of the Rhine against no resistance.
6. Truman is impeached when enough Conservatives figure out that unless the army fights the Russians will occupy all of Europe.
7. Russia sits tight in Germany and does nothing about Denmark, the Netherlands, and the Rhineland.
8. President Kennedy persuades the rest of Europe to form a free market and self defence pact, with a border along the Rhine and demilitarized zone in Jutland and the northern Netherlands.
9. Russia makes no trouble, delighted it has more of Germany to loot, and afraid of the Conservative party getting back in control of the US and the army.
10. The US pulls out of Korea, and the European colonies are freed, and federated into large countries with no ethnic majorities, unlike OTL.
11.

What the???

8. President Kennedy persuades the rest of Europe to form a free market and self defence pact, with a border along the Rhine and demilitarized zone in Jutland and the northern Netherlands.

Kennedy who??? I would assume that you mean Joe Sr. If so, he was a power broker back then, not a politician. A lot of people would also remember when he was ambassador to the UK and he urged us to give up on them and settle with Hitler.

Why???

Why???
Kennedy was a power broker. He didn't have the human warmth of someone like Roosevelt or Clinton or Bush Jr. But he wouldn't have been elected in this ATL. He would have been a compromise candidate between the liberals and the sane conservatives, as a reaction to the insane conservatives trying to start a war with Russia.
Why would Truman try to start a hot war in this ATL instead of a cold war as in OTL? A stroke? People can have a stroke and lose all inhibitions. The conservatives wanted to start a war with Russia, it was the American people who weren't having any.
Kennedy was right to advise us to give up on Britain. It wasn't until 1939 that they worked up the nerve to fight, and it wasn't until Churchill took over in 1940, after the collapse of the British army under the Tories, that the British started to fight seriously. It was Baldwin and Chamberlain that Kennedy advised us not to ally with, because it was Baldwin and Chamberlain that were trying to start a war with Russia.
No kidding. After Poland had fallen, the Tory leadership in Britain tried to get Britain involved with a war with Russia. Churchill writes about the attempt to launch attacks on Baku from Iran, and to send a division to Finland to fight the Russians.

A random person just doesn't become President...

Insane conservatives

So, I guess that by your definition it was okay for the Russians to have invaded Finland. After all, the Finns must have been trying to conquer the Russians.

He would probably do it because he had a bad hangover and was cranky.

A Finlandized socialist Latin and Scandinavian Europe pulls out of the Western Alliance system leaving a Labor Britain and a Liberal America to take over the colonies. They blow off their colonies and concentrate on defence against Russia. They have their minds concentrated wonderfully by the prospect of being annexed by the Russians and sign self defence treaties against Russia, instead of cowardly abandoning their friends like the Capitalist Establishments did prewar against Hitler.
First, America sets up colonial federations to build up the self defence of the former colonies against the Russians. The former colonies get all the plantations and mines that were built by the colonial powers, and the native troops wind up as armies. Liberal America and Labor Britain provide the airforce and navy for the former colonies. There will be no "peace in our time" sellouts like when the Capitalists sold out the Czechs to Hitler before the war.
Russia has Eastern Europe and Germany. Japan gets starved out. China fights a civil war and one or the other side wins.
