Trotsky..

Around the time of Lenin's death in 1924 Trotsky was outmanouevered by Stalin who took over from Lenin as leader of the Russian Communist Government. My question is what if Trotsky toughs it out and manages to become the leader of the Communist Party?
What are the effects for Communisim, Russia and Europe?

Thanks

Not possible. Trotsky just didn't have leadership material, as I'm sure many others will tell you here.

Trotsky ruling the USSR is essentially the Russian Sealion in terms of implausibility-to-popularity-of-idea ratio.

Had no idea this was as difficult/impossible as suggested!

Guess you learn something new everyday! :p

Thanks

If Trotsky makes it, it will be by the combination of his ties to the Red Army and his charisma. He winds up producing a USSR that winds up like a twisted hybrid of Imperial Japan with Soviet-style bureaucracy and how this works in the very long term is really difficult to see as the butterflies would turn into a horde of Mothras by the early 1930s.
