Tripple threat of the cold war

Just thought of this idea, what if.........
1933
-FDR is assassinated.
1940
-The US continues selling oil to Japan not minding it's invasion of china or other asian countries (due to isolationist taking control and not wanting to start a war with japan).
1945
-the USSR detonates an atomic bomb over Berlin and now rules europe.
1947
-The US, Japan, & Russia are now engaged in a 3 sided cold war.

USSR would have to start a Nuclear program earlier then, they didnt get an A bomb untill 1949.

A Non American A- bomb in 1945 could hypothetically be British, we started a Nuke program in 1940.

Also Britain may be stronger with no loss of East Asian colonies to Japan (is that what happens?) so a 4 way 'cold war'?

Wouldn't really be a four-way cold war- the chances of the US and the UK squaring off against each other at that point, even in proxy wars and with an isolationist President at least from 1936-1940, are slim. They'd work together in all probability.

And, as mentioned in another thread recently, three-way wars, even cold wars, tend not to stay that way as two will always gang up on the third.

actually, IIRC Britain and America weren't all that friendly until after the war, and even then there was bitterness after their trusted ally demanded that they dissassemble their Empire, effetively removing Britain from the stage as a world leading colonial power.

very friendly ;)
