Trench warfare on the Eastern Front

I don't think it is possible. The troop density required for continuous front cannot be achieved on the East Front. Plus the terrain features are not really conducive for this outcome.

How can we have Western Front-esque trench warfare on the Eastern Front of WWI, instead of OTL's mobile warfare?

You would have to have Germany and Austria-Hungary go up against a more competent Russia alone, with most of the fighting taking place in Poland and the Carpathian piedmont. Otherwise, there just aren't enough troops per kilometer of front to make any sort of real trench warfare possible.

Not enough troop density. Not enough RR. There are gaps in the RR network the size of Belgium. If you have Germany/AH versus Russia alone, it is a never ending German advance. Tsar sues for peace and lose Poland, maybe few other things.

There were in some places. Check out Baranovichi and the largest flamethrower assault in history (nearly 300 teams) to break through the heavy fortifications on the Eastern front.
They just couldn't develop a continuous line, because of the distances involved. In fact supplying a continuous line would have been impossible because rail lines didn't service everywhere on the Eastern Front to the extent that they did in the West.
