In OTL, before the assignment of the Treaty of Tordesilhas between Spain and Portugal, there was another treaty that regulated the navigation of both iberian countries, called Treaty of Alcáçovas. This document divided the world between a spanish north and a portuguese south, leaving only in the american continet only OTL USA (except Florida) and Canada in spanish hands.
So i was thinking: if Portugal had discovered America (perhaps because of a route deviation in the Atlantic Ocean, leading then to the brazilian coast, or Colombo's proposal is accepted) ,how would the colonization of the american continent be with the treaty of Alcáçovas still being the line that divide the world?
