All,

I have deliberately put this one in the after 1900 section. The Boer War was just short of 3 months to get into this section anyway, but all the ramifications are in the after 1900 period.

Here it goes:

The small changes I envisage are:

1) Joubert orders the additional guns. Artillery is a must in this. Both 'static' and mobile guns

2) Additional Mausers and the ammunition to go with it gets delivered in time

3) Mobilisation (as much as it is possible to mobile a 'citizen army') takes place long before the ultimatum

4) De Wet is in overall command (not Joubert)

5) Free State is not holding it up.

When the ultimatum expires, de Wet goes on the offensive in Natal. The goal is to capture Durban, which is the only real port for off-loading

The questions raised are:

1) Will Milner's 'nightmare' come through: The Afrikaners of Cape declaring either sympathy or outright declare a 'new' Afrikaner republic.

2) Where will the additional 10,000 soldiers now land. These were streaming into Durban un-molested.

3) If the Cape Afrikaners are sympathetic to the Transvaal/Free State cause, they can put up all kind of road-blocks.

4) How much longer will the war last?

5) Will there be a 'Majuba' settlement as Britain can hardly get to land any troops anywhere?
