Trajan conquered Hatra

The romans under Trajan invaded the Parthian empire and where sucsesfull but the werent able to conquer Hatra and this showed that the Parthians werent defeated but retreated. What if Trajan was able to defeat the Parthians and conquered Hatra.

Even with Trajan's conquest of the Tigris-Euphrates region, the Romans were overextended in the East. Under Hadrian, they abandoned the area as an economy measure. Further conquests by Trajan would only have overextended them further.

I'd agree with you except that the retreat was a consequence of the cost of the defense of the border as it stood, with different borders things could be different : had the roman had a good defensible border where the Parthians could only attack on a small front the romans might very well have decided to keep the border there.
