Total German reunification

There *was* total German reunification in 1990. Except in 1938-45, Austria has not been part of Germany since 1866.

I agree! The History of Austria is very different from german history, and even though austrians also speak german, their culture is also different. Prussia as an idea was the force behind the german history, the austrian state and culture was shaped by the Austro-hungarian history. I think the two states differ quite a bit, and so it would not be a unification at all.

If at all, I'd propose some kind of Austro-bavarese federation, because Austria and Bavaria have more in common culturally. But I think even this thought experiment might not be possible at all.

Well, even if the Austrians would like to unite with the bavarians, the bavarians might object. Just because the dialect is similar and some customs are close, doesn't mean there isn't bad blood from history. Like some previous attempts to enlarge Austria in that direction.

For some inane reason, the Entente allows Austria to join Germany in 1919 (IIRC that was the desired outcome in Austria at the time). WW2 happens none the less (butterflies, I know, but meh...) and Austria is partioned alongside the rest of Germany. When the wall comes down, East/West Austria is remerged into the new Germany.

Calling this option crap simply because you dislike it doesn't make it so. A positive response would be to offer an alternative rather than bash an idea presented to the OP.

It has got nothing to do with 'liking' the idea. It's a questionable proposal because it ignores the cultural differences between Bavarians and Austrians as well as suggesting the former domains of the Habsburgs (let alone the rest of Germany) would just accept a Wittelsbach monarch.
