The Rebellion of Saludang

On the war between Lakan Gambang and the Sultan of Brunei, Nakhoda Ragam Bolkiah, after the death and defeat of Lakan Gambang, one of the nobles defeated related to Lakan Gambang decided that the nobles in Saluadang should regroup if they want their land to have any future, the noble dreamed that his nation will be put in an unfavorable union in the future and he needs to save his nation from disgrace and slavery, the nation should no longer be called as Tagalog[1] or Taga-Ilog, the Tagalog Dynasty is already gone after the death of Lakan Gambang, another one will take its place, the nobles from Faru, Lihan and Lingayen device a plan to free Saludang from the Bruneians, the nobles thought that the Chinese would do some help for them.

“We will rename our country as Ilugan, which also called as river people”, as the noble said, the founder of the new dynasty wants to redefine the River People Identity of Saludang, the Ilugan Dynasty is thus born from a man who wanted to revive the nation from slavery, the nobles sailed to China and sought help from the Ming in order to restore their country back from Slavery, the Saludanese rebels dominated the whole country, the people never wanted to be enslaved anymore.

The Chinese Emperor sent troops to bring along with the nobles that help against Brunei and the leader of the revolt was married to one of the Chinese noble woman relatives of the Ming emperor at that time, the troops from china deployed by the Emperor joined the nobles in [3]Saludang and fought against the Bruneians, the rebels and the Chinese troops, they landed in Bigan in order to start a war against the Bruneians, Faru and the rest of the Cagayan Valley became a part of the lands controlled by the Ilugan Dynasty, the King of Ilugan Dynasty called himself King of Ilugan people and crowned himself as Timanukum II and took control of the Upper Pampanga river basin and Agno basins, it will take decades and years before they can completely expel the Bruneians, finally after many decades, the Manila bay was destroyed by the Ilugan Dynasty and the people from Kumintang and Namayan[4] are decimated of the war between the troops of the Ilugan Dynasty and the Bruneians, in the end the Dynasty installed by Bruneians were expelled by the Ilugan Dynasty, they would be in a slump for a long time, and Manila bay would lose all of its prestige causing the island to be in a time of Isolation for a time and the only place that trade was made is in Bigan which became the capital after the destruction of Manila bay but the trade was not enough to revive the exchange, the people of Ilugan wanted to trade but the foreign countries lost their interest in the country and its being known for its riches was lost and its value as an strategic trading area was lost.

Timanukum II resettled the depopulated parts of Manila bay with Chinese and Japanese and Promoted Islam to the people of Saludang as a way to prevent another attack by Brunei from happening and Ming will protect them from another attack, Manila and Tondo are merged and renamed as Malilu because it became a Chinese city and the natives left the area.

The people of Saludang will hate the people of Borneo for the rape that they experienced from them, just like the people of Korea will hate the people of Japan the people of Saludang hate the Borneans because they blame the Borneans for the decimation of Namayan and Kumintang[5].

1.The Tagalog Dynasty is the family that rules the Island before the Sultan of Brunei sacked their capital Tondo, it is replaced by the Ilugan Dynasty which is a cadet on the male line of the earlier Tagalog Dynasty, the capital of the Ilugan Dynasty is Bigan.

2.Faru became Aparri in OTL when the Spanish ruled Luzon in OTL or in this timeline called as Saludang, in this the timeline, Faru retains its name, the Ibanag are called as Taga Faru or Kafaru Instead because they are the people Greater Faru, Bannag is another word for Kayan River which spills over to the Babuyan Islands, both Lihan(Malolos) and Faru(Aparri) retain their original names, both Lihan and Faru become great component cities in Saludang, their status is like the OTL Clark and Naga.

3.Saludang is Luzon, Lowland Luzon is ruled earlier by the Tagalog Dynasty replaced by the Ilugan Dynasty.

4. In this TL, the Tagalog Ethnic group does not exist, their equivalent in this TL is the minority province group, Kumintang which is currently being assimilated by the ‘Cosmopolitanos’, the equivalent of the Kapampangans in this TL are the Tagarugs who associated themselves with the previous defunct dynasty.

5. The Imjin war that would occur later is said to be similar to the invasion of Saludang but in this time, they will recover, however for Saludang, Saludang will disappear completely from the maps for a hundred of years due to the destruction of Manila and Manila would remain a wasteland.

Terror in the seas
Due to the expulsion of the Bruneians from Saludang, the Southern coasts of Saludang was raided by the Bruneians but the Bruneians changed their sights to Visayas which is the home of the Pirates in order to help their subordinates, the Sultans of Sulu to unite Visayas in their rule but they would fail to do this, while in the Maranon area[1], Sharif Kabungsuan would establish a dynasty ruling most of the island as superior to the chiefdoms there and united them and islamized the lowlanders in a swift manner the lowland people of Jambangan, Misamis, Daba-Daba aside from Maguindanao and Lanao were able to convert, in the end both Saludang and Maranon would be united under their dynasties causing them to repel any future invaders, the Visayans would remain disunited.

A few decades after the Ilugan Dynasty started, Ferdinand Magellan would land in Mazasua in the Maranon in petty kingdom of Butuan and sailed to Sugbu and meets his end in Limasawa where in he is killed due to the conflict between Lapu Lapu and Humabon, what would be the fate of the people of Saludang, Maranon, Sulu and the Visayan Chieftaindoms.

Ferdinand Magellan’s men were not able to get back the body of Ferdinand Magellan and his men were able to go back to Spain, LapuLapu had the body of Magellan buried with him and that is according to the legend.

They told Emperor Charles V of Germany and king of Spain, they said that the lands of the three Isles is very hostile, they told Charles V that those people are hostile and are still pagans and they should convert them, the people of Saludang were not mentioned by the Spanish chroniclers because they disappeared from the map after the expulsion of the Bruneians.

1. Mainland Mindanao, its people are called as Iranun and their place is called as Maranon.

Legaspi Expedition
Miguel Lopez de Legazpi's expedition anchored off on 1570, but did not put ashore due to opposition from natives.

Initially Rajah Tupas was against him but he was defeated by the forces of the Spanish and his people were forced to subject to Christianization and subjugation and the Spanish establish a colony in Cebu.

The Spanish would explore Panay and Minolo but in those areas, Pirates from Saludang marauded the areas and raided them for Slaves, the Spanish settled in Minolo in the port of Minolo[1] and subjugated the people of Panay and Iloilo who wanted protection against the Slave raiders from Saludang.

It has been said that the land north of Minolo, the area is a wasteland, Saludang used to have a rich port named Maynila which is now a wasteland settled by Chinese and Japanese, Salcedo and Legaspi went to explore Kumintang but they were greeted by hostile natives who are muslim and wanted nothing of the Spanish, the missionaries tried to make conversions out of the natives but any conversion to christianity was impossible, it was due to the recent experience of the people of Saludang from the Bruneians, he came to talk to the ruler of Saludang in Bigan named Iskandar I at the time who said that they are welcome to trade and form their own ports, he told Legaspi that his people would not welcome any missionaries in their Island due to them being forced to convert to Islam when they were under Bruneian rule.

The Spanish wanted to revive the city of Manila but it came under the opposition of the Wukou and the Chinese who live there and they were expelled, so the Spanish were only left with the choice of the cities of Minolo and Balayan as their base in the area and for evangelization and trade, but most of the people there were against the evangelization so they left the site and the People from Visayas were imported to there but the Spanish were expelled by the people surrounding it in Balayan who were either pagans or muslims and due to this the Spanish would leave the Island behind, in the same time the Portuguese who have interests in Saludang as well were given a port in Manila in the condition that proselytization of christianity is not allowed as the people told it to them.

Establishment of Las Islas Filipinas

On 1575, after the expulsion of the Spanish from Balayan , Legaspi gave up on the land, he decided to cement the government of the new colony, Filipinas, centered in Cebu, the Port City of Minolo became an enclave of the Spanish in Minolo, the native population of Minolo left Minolo for Balayan, a town that rejected the Spanish, the Spanish also conquered Calapan and established a place a new city named Nueva Palma, named after the city in Mallorca, the Spanish settlements in Mindoro became majorly Visayan and spoke Visayan, Spanish people settled Minolo and Nueva Palma, the two cities became the center of the language named Chavacano de Saludan, the Spanish would also establish a settlement in Matnog in Sorsogon where the Natives chose to leave as well, the Spanish would fail to establish other settlements or forts in Saludang even if the King of the Yluganes[1] was okay with him establishing forts.

On 1580, Iskandar I sent a messenger to the Legaspi that he would cede his claims to the colonial towns in Minolo and Sorsogon in exchange of a marriage of his youngest daughter, Llishaba to the King of Spain Philip II and the children of the marriage would be the ones ruling the ceded lands, he would marry Princess Llishaba of Saludang, however he is already married to Elisabeth of England[2], on 1581, Juan de Salcedo became a stand in for Philip II to marry Princess Llishaba, after that, Princess Llishaba became known as Isabel de Saludan, the marriage was in Pagan rights, so Isabel was treated as a mistress by Philip II.

Isabel aside from being a princess from Saludang, she is a descendant of the Timurids and the Ming Emperors, this was not looked upon by the courtiers and the King of Spain himself.
