What if on the 4chan forum in 2007, someone posts a link to Rick Astley's music video "Together Forever" instead of "Never Gonna Give You Up"?

Throughout 2008, everything from protests, to debates, to parades is bombarded with "Together Forever", a phenomenon that becomes known as "rickrolling." Even a video featuring clips from candidate Obama's speeches that makes him singing "If there's anything you need.."

This sparks a renewed interest in Rick Astley, and soon his videos receive more hits on youtube, in particular, "Never Gonna Give You Up." People soon notice that, despite the different melodies, the background music for both songs are identical...
