To the Baltic?

Right. I've been wondering. When would be the best time for Prussia to expand into the Baltics? Preferably, I'd also like them to have Brandenburg and Silesia as well.

In short, you're to make it as large as possible before(if it does at all) unites Germany. But I'd love to see how Prussia might come to control the European Baltic coast.

One more rule: No unions with Sweden unless it's under Prussian dominance.

marry into Danish Royal Family... then using that as a pretense say Prussia is reviving the Union of Kalmar under Prussian rule not Danish lol :D

I've been wondering about this for a TL od mine and possibly a different first partition of poland. Possibly one that excludes Austria. So maybe if Peter III doesn't get killed in 1760?

King Gustav Adolphus doesn't dies, and Queen Christina marries the Great Elector. This union might seem Swedish-dominated at first glance, but Gustav has managed to force the German Protestant princes into his alliance, and forced the Hapsburg to largely back down in Germany. The Great Elector recognizes the need to expand, and uses the long-running Polish-Swedish conflict to grab some serious territory. Christina's increasing distance from government leads to the Elector-King's appointment of Germans to important government positions. The Swedes get mad, and pull the same trick they did under King Gustav's father, and a royal coup occurs, with Christina's cousin taking power in Sweden as the new King.

The Great Elector loses his royal title, but keeps the territory that Sweden-Brandenburg-Prussia conquered from the Poles and in Germany, forming a continuous state from Mecklenburg to Memel. The loss of territory hurts the Swedes, and largely stunts their ambitions in the Baltics, taking the revenues that had largely fueled their military machine. The Brandenburg-Prussia military, based on the Swedish model and created by the Great Elector, has a lot more resources to work with and when Brandenburg and Sweden split Brandenburg is recognized as the strongest Northern European power, and seen in Germany as the main protector of the HRE's Protestants.

As in my begun-but-never-went-beyond-the-first-part TL, the Great Northern War. With a bit of side switcheroo and very, very much luck Brandenburg-Prussia could gain COurland/Livonia/Estonia ;)

And Matthais, "Mecklenburg to Memel" is I think not what NBietzsche has in mind. Prussia eventually got that IOTL, after all.
