I'm interested in doing a timeline regarding a Progressive victory in the 1912 election. Frankly Im pretty weak on US history in this period so I was wondering for help. Some ideas I have to get Teddy back in the White House are:
Champ Clark gets the Democratic nomination - apparently Tammany Hall support angered liberals in the Party, who by 1912 were fed up of clique control. However Clark depsite being a conservative was against big city power, have him fall out with Tammany and he might gain 'cred' amongst a growing rank of dissenters, pusing the 2/3 boundary.
Victor Berger leads moderates out of the Socialist Party - at the SP 1910 and 12 conventions, radicals were gaining greater power, looking to ally with syndicalists in the IWW and electing their men to the party administration. Berger led the right of the SP who advocated a more 'labour' approach towards a welfare state and union rights, things the Progressives were all for. Say they either join the Progressives or form a US Labour Party, backing Teddy or even running their own candidates. The SP will lose crdibility by their spliting their base.
Unions back Teddy - the unions backed Wilson in OTL but say the Progressive programme convinces trade unionists either through debate or due to a conservative Democratic candidate
