January 24th, 2000: Surprising the public, Senator Bill Bradley (D-NJ) comes first in the Iowa caucus over Vice President Al Gore (D-TN) at 51.03%, taking 24 delegates.

January 25, 2000: Vice President Gore blames Bradley's victory on the "caucus advantage". He notes that he still has a lead in New Hampshire and in national polling.

Gallup releases a poll showing that Gore's lead has lowered to fifteen points in New Hampshire and 20 points nationwide.
 
January 26th, 2000: Senator Bradley, at a rally in Portsmouth, says that "Gore can't seem to accept the fact that we have the momentum," and vows to come first in the upcoming primary.
 
January 27th, 2000: Gore agrees to appear in a televised debate with Bradley. A poll released later shows that 49.15% of viewers believed that Bradley outperformed Gore, 37.64% believed Gore outperformed Bradley, and 13.21% were undecided
 
February 1st, 2000: Gore narrowly scores a victory in the New Hampshire primary, taking 50.35% of the vote, taking 11 delegates.
 
January 24 2000:Texas Governor George W Bush wins the Iowa caucuses.

February 1 2000:Arizona senator John McCain wins the New Hampshire primary.
