August 23rd, 1987: Senator Joe Biden delivers a speech at the Iowa State Fair. His Press Secretary, Larry Rasky, removed a few lines beforehand, due to their distinct similarity to a speech delivered by Neil Kinnock.

February 8, 1988: Biden comes first in the Iowa caucus, taking 34% of the delegates. Behind him in second place is Congressman Dick Gephart in second at 20%, Governor Michael Dukakis at 18%, Senator Paul Simon at 17%, Reverend Jesse Jackson at 8%, uncommitted 3%

Note: While this is an open TL, I ask that you NOT make this go off the rails. Keep it as realistic as possible.

I'm on board for President Biden! :D

A few ideas:

- Cast Mark Hamill in the 1989 Batman flick.
- Something like grunge will still take of IMHO, how about ITTL it's the Melvins who go big?
- Sony/Nintendo team up like "Player Two Start".
- Prequel TV series like my "Young Obi-Wan Kenobi chronicles", perhaps?

To offset the craziness of that recent "Obama assassinated" TL; might I suggest some PODs to reduce some of the bad parts of the Middle East (AQ and the like), Russia (Putin gone), China (nuff said), North Korea (the Jongs), Mexico (cartels), etc.

Not full utopia, but maybe let's be a little nicer this time. :)

16 February, 1988: Bob Dole wins the New Hampshire primary taking 33% of the vote; to Bush's 25%. Al Haig is next with 12%; as is Pat Robertson. Jack Kemp and Pete DuPont bring up the rear with 10% and 8% respectively.

18 February, 1988: Pat Robertson wins the Nevada primary taking 26% of the vote; to Dole's 25%. Bush picks up 22% to Haig's 15%; while Kemp is on 10% and Pete DuPont can only manage a meagre 1% (he soon after drops out.)

20 February, 1988: Bush Campaign to make 'major announcement' in coming days.

2/23/88: Vice President Bush announces he has suffered a major heart attack and has been advised to withdraw by his doctors, and so he states he will be stepping aside from the presidential race. He refuses to make an endorsement, saying "it's too early in the season, but I WILL support the nominee, and you have my word on that".

I do think, however, he wouldn't have waited so long to tell the people (considering how severe it was)
