To die a hero's death: the Death of Macarthur

I am kind of interested in writing a mini TL but first I wanted to see what those who are better qualified them myself think might happen if in 1914 Douglas Macarthur had died a war hero's death during the Vera Cruz Expedition? He would die valiently being gunned down by a Mauser wielding Mexican during the block to block fighting under circumstances that would get him national recognition back in the US.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Exactly the same if Patton had lost his "gunfight" in Mexico during Black Jack Pershing's invasion.

We wouldn't have to put up with eternal bun fights about the pros and cons of the two of them.

Ohh this will be fun. Well, mostly the Pacific will be completely different. A new commander will be in charge in the Philippines, maybe Collins, who wouldn't try the idiotic defend at the beaches and loose all of the supplies.

MacA being a hero would not make one user of this forum do the happy dance, on the other hand MacA being a hero no one knows for he died in an unimportant skirmsih might encourage him do the happy dance. ;)
