TLIAW: Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag

Alrighty, this little TLIAW is gonna be a quick history of a very different CSA; specifically, one where different individuals go to the The Montgomery Convention (either becaue of the death or delay of OTL participants [namely Davis]), and with a peace being declared after a longer war and eventual peace. More explanation to come, I promise, but for now, here's a teaser of things!

Confederal Flag of the Confederated States of America

"1. We are a band of brothers and native to the soil
Fighting for the liberty we gained by honest toil
And when our rights were threatened, the cry rose near and far
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!

Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

2. As long as the Union was faithful to her trust
Like friends and like brethren, kind were we, and just
But now, when Northern treachery attempts our rights to mar
We hoist on high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

3. First gallant South Carolina nobly made the stand
Then came Mississippi and took her by the hand
Next, quickly Alabama, Florida, and Georgia
All raised on high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

4. Ye men of valor gather round the banner of the right
Louisiana and fair Texas join us in the fight
Toombs, our loved President, and Johnston statesmen rare
Now rally round the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

5. Now here's to brave Virginia, the Old Dominion State,
With the young Confederacy at last has sealed her fate,
And spurred by her example, now other states prepare
To hoist high the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

6. Then cheer, boys, cheer, raise a joyous shout
For Arkansas and North Carolina now have both gone out,
And let another rousing cheer for Tennessee be given,
The single star of the Bonnie Blue Flag has grown to be eleven.

Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

7. Dixies, one and all, are proud, that's a fact
As Missouri and brave Kentucky have now joined our pact
And each every Southern soldier mans his noble station
For that Bonnie Blue Flag flies across our nation.

Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

8. Then here's to our Confederacy, strong we are and brave,
Like patriots of old we'll fight, our heritage to save;
And rather than submit to shame, to die we would prefer,
So cheer for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!"

"I see a nation fought for with Whites blood, built up with Negro blood, and fertilized with New Latin blood. If each of us have given so much, have died in such numbers for a place we proudly call home... then why, why oh why do we have different rights? The Declaration of Colored Rights was a turning point, a grand notion that saw our Confederacy grow stronger. Each and every Republic-State saw new workers, new soldiers, and new teachers strengthen every echelon of society. Why oh why then do any believe that a single, universal declaration of the Rights of all Men would harm us? Where is their logic? Where do they draw these ludicrous conclusions?

Why oh why must a black woman and a white man walk on separate sides of the street, even when living beneath the same roof? Even when sleeping in the same bed? Yes, we all know it happens, but why oh why is it a crime? Love knows no bounds, and yet we see fit to create bounds for it.

The time is coming, my fellow Dixies, when everywhere from Yucatan to Virginia, from Apache to Georgia, will see human beings of all creeds, of all colors, of all castes and walks of life, marching side by side to the same great drumbeat! Marching and waving that great Bonnie Blue Flag, it's one great star finally, at long last, representing one, united nation! And upon the day when that time comes, we will look at our history and ask, 'Why oh why didn't we do this before?'"

"I'd grown up during the Race Riots. A nice, upstanding white boy, born and raised right in Charleston; until half of it got burned to the ground. I'd thought I'd seen Hell. I hadn't seen Hell until I got to Holland. Marching through those marshes, finding towns razed and corpses having died while trying to crawl to safety...I always hoped the napalm would reach those towns; that way the families wouldn't have to see just how painfully their kin died. Those German bastards got what was coming if you ask me. I know that ain't a popular sentiment but...I can't say I really feel too bad when I hear about what the Poles are doing to them. Sure, they're the enemy now, but sometimes I wish could just leave the Russians high and dry and let them and the Brits sort all the malarkey out themselves."
