Justice League - Crisis on Infinite Worlds Synopsis Act I

Something is wrong with the world.

Reports flood into Gotham of a man flying through the skies of Metropolis, a red blur racing through the streets of Central City. Missing District Attorney Harvey Dent reappears horribly disfigured on one half of his body, and is dubbed by the press as Two-Face. During a Press Conference by Commissioner Gordon Two-Face holds the crowd hostage and Batman arrives - Dent/Two-Face flips his coin, declaring 'heads this world survives, tails this world disappears." Batman punches Two-Face out before the toss is decided.

Diana, ruler of Paradise Island, stands on the beach as a man arises from the waves, "Greetings King of Atlantis, but come no farther. You know men are forbidden to set foot on the shores of Paradise Island. Why have you come?"

Aquaman grins briefly, "You've grown so formal since you returned here, Diana. The seas are wrong. I think it is time for Wonder Woman to return to Man's World."

Clark Kent walks the streets of Middleton, chasing down stories of Superman. After days, he catches sight of the Man of Steel in the skies, fighting...something dark. After driving away the dark figure, the figure of Superman lands before Clark prompting the Daily Planet reporter to quip, "I think we need to talk." The Last Son replies, "I think you're right."

Justice League Crisis on Infinite Worlds Synopsis Act I Continued

In Central City, the Flash races a speedster whose red blur looks identical to his own - just as he comes close enough to make out a mirror image of himself, the man disappears.

In a lead lined lab in Metropolis, Lex Luthor tinkers with an apparatus that sputters and spins and appears to show stars briefly. Just as Luthor reaches out to pull a large lever the ceiling breaks open and green light bathes the room. Two figures glide down in a green bubble, "I wouldn't touch that; you'll bring doom quicker to this world if you try to peer at the beginning of all things."

"And how would you know what I am doing, and that such a thing would happen?" Luthor scoffs.

The bubble dissipates from around a man dressed in green, a lantern emblem adorning his chest, and his companion who as he steps closer to Lex Luthor is revealed to be a man very similar in appearance though strangely dressed, "Because I have already done what you seek to do, Lex Luthor, and it earned me the name of Pariah on a multitudes of worlds."

Two red caped figures stand on a mountain-top, "So you are supposed to be me?" Superman asks. "Well, people seeing me flying around more as myself might attract unwanted attention. But helping people looking like the hero of Metropolis, they'd just cheer and think nothing of it. Didn't expect you to come looking for me dressed up like a reporter, however, Kal-El."

"And how did you?"

"Telepathic."

"Well, fair's fair. Drop the act, please."

The figure changes into a green skinned man shaped being, "J'onn J'onzz, Last Son of Mars. Pleased to meet you, Last Son of Krypton."

Justice League - Crisis on Infinite Earths Synopsis Act I Continued

Scenes of Pariah and the Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, gathering heroes like The Flash, Wonder Woman & Aquaman, the Martian Manhunter and Superman. Scenes of Bruce Wayne in the Batcave, flashing through reports throughout the world.

Superman is especially taken aback by the appearance of Pariah. "He's not your Luthor, Superman. Universes are crumbling at the hands of the Anti-Monitor, and Pariah has been sent to the Guardians, to us all, to help us fight."

A shadow detaches from the side, "Count me in," the Batman says. The Martian Manhunter nods, "We were wondering when you'd announce yourself."

Pariah details how his own forbidden experiments to learn the secrets of the beginning of the Universe awakened the Anti-Monitor, and his positive counterpart, the Monitor, themselves and the Multiverse itself created by the shame of the Guardians, the Oan Krona, succeeded in his likewise attempts to view the moment of creation. Across multiple earths, walls are falling and worlds merging, and the mightiest beings are being recruited by the Monitor to protect monoliths that work like tuning forks that the Monitor has placed on the multiple earths to shield them from the destructive force of the Anti-Monitor. As the heroes get to know each other in preparation to protect the monoliths, Pariah smiles wanely and mentions that in his world's history, these heroes also had come together, to form a League of Justice.

Justice League - Crisis on Infinite Earths Synopsis Act II

The action pics up in tempo as superheroes (and in some cases supervillains) are shown protecting monoliths scattered across the Earths from attacks by the shadow demons of the Anti-Monitor. Luthor talks Pariah into a trans-temporal strike into the past against Krona before he can initiate his experiment - it fails rather spectacularly.

Thwarted in destroying enough monoliths to leave their Earths vulnerable to his destructive forces, the Anti-Monitor brings in a massive new weapon that will shatter the worlds, and is only stopped by the seeming sacrifice of Barry Allen, the Flash.

Even as the Justice League is stunned by the loss of the Flash, the Anti-Monitor taunts them with Luthor's failure and then opens a gateway to the dawn of time itself where he will strike the final blow. The Green Lantern, Superman, and Martian Manhunter plan to combine forces to transport the League back to the Dawn of Time to face the League itself, but need more power to do so leading Superman to call in his cousin, Supergirl (with Helen Slater reprising the role). The heroes make it back only to be caught in a trap that drains them of a significant part of their power. They fight on nonetheless, with only the sacrifice of Supergirl seeming to turn the tide, both by weakening the Anti-Monitor and filling Superman with a righteous rage. The Anti-Monitor is finally defeated with a final mighty strike by the grief stricken Superman.

The surprise appearance (and death) of Supergirl in the Justice League movie had been a closely guarded secret that only was revealed with the opening of the film, and was positively received by the fan community.

Justice League - Crisis on Infinite Earths Synopsis Epilogue

With the defeat of the Anti-Monitor, at a heavy cost, the walls of the space that the Anti-Monitor created at the end of time seem to melt away, and instead swirling scenes of heroes (some cameos of other DC comics characters, others alternate versions of the Justice League, including brief images of the George Reeves Superman and Adam West Batman) from multiple histories flash around our beleaguered heroes - an image of the deceased Monitor (killed by a shadow demon possessed Pariah after the failure of the Lex Luthor led attempt to thwart Krona) appears to the Justice League, informing them that their defeat of the Anti-Monitor here at the Dawn of Time has set a chain of events in motion that will merge the alternate earths into one, new world. As the worlds coalesce around the heroes, Superman gets the final word, "Make it a good one."

Fascinating idea and imagining the melding of the disprate classic continuities gives me goosebumps alone. I'd love to see a photoshop of this version of the team. Nice work!
