Am I? I thought he was a key player back then. Ah, I'm gonna have to read up more on him then!

He was an important player, but the problem was that even "Mr. Republican" went back and forth on significant issues during much of his career, and failed further to eally influence the presidential nomination decisively prior to 1952.
 
The party bosses and almost the entire southern delegation in our timeine threatened to deny Roosevelt the presidential nomination if he picked Wallace. He called their bluff in our timeline, but here, there is likely far less of a prospect for Wallace. particularly with people like Cordell Hull and Albert "Happy" Chandler around instead.

I see. So Hull would be a more likely nominee?
