TL pod help

So I have been planning a TL for a while that is heavily inspired by mobiyuz's TL31 (https://www.deviantart.com/mobiyuz/gallery/64510242/Timeline-31). But I ran into a problem when it came time to pick the pod. the main difference between otl and this alternate timeline is that more states seceded during the civil war. For contact this is the map I produced. note that this is in the year 1860.

So to put it simply what kind of pod ( if there are any that can achieve this) is required for this to happen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ps: I am aware that Kentucky, West Virginia, and Oklahoma would be heavily contested I decide to give them to the nation that controlled them in 1860. West Virginia will decided to try and leave Virginia for America for those that might point that out.

South can't win without Britain period so keep that in mind. Not sure how you manage to get a Mississippi country that bisects the parent country. Probably going to have to plop your POD in the 1830s to get them more restless. People in OTL pre-Civil War thought of themselves as (insert name of state here) first and American next, even the Northerners did, but that didn't stop them from staying loyal to the Federal government. You need some POD that results in the Trans Mississippi region being more pro-decentralization and that needs to happen before the civil war.

I certainly will

I kind of thought that the POD would have to be before the civil war so thanks for confirming. my main question still stands what event or change would cause more regionalism and eventual secessionism because I have no clue.

Some big Federal government mess-up that costs taxpayers a load of money but the trust is recovered on the East coast. A modern example of "oh we really messed up" was Chernobyl Plant which was run by the state. Obviously Nuclear projects are not happening in the 1800s, but there probably has to be some stupid money pit that some guy out there can think of

1) could the a worse panic of 1837 work for this purpose.
2) I like that idea an economic fuck up/ catastrophe so bad that i causes some states to lose hope in the federal goverment.

The 1837 panic wasn't the federal government's doing. Although I suppose you can make some damage control idea that doesn't work at all.
In terms of horrible damage damage control ideas doing nothing could work. So in light of that idea could the independent treasury bill fail to pass congress in 1840 or is that bill basically going to pass no matter what at that point

Basically the 1837 Panic itself wasn't the central government's fault so causing people to lose faith in the central government is much more likely in "hey, that thing they said would fix things and it didn't work" then "well, they aren't doing anything, but that's same old same old, we just have to hope things get better." I also think we need at least 3 decades before the ACW, just simple because we want the change to be long enough that memories of the better times is grey. So I think the late 1820s is the soft celling on your dates

1) The fact that the government its self has to fuck up and that the date for the pod has to be in the early 1820s at the earliest makes sense to me
2) this leads to 2 possible scenarios one is that someone (don't know who) proposes to congress (don't know what) a plan to fix the economy in 1837 and it goes wrong( from what I am gathering the least likely scenario) or two a really bad recession happens in the 1820s (Andrew Jackson winning in 1824 possibly) and then government fucks up.

You do realize that, sans Missouri, Transmississippi is like 5 white guys and a cow plus surely Native Americans right? As a Minnesotan, I can tell you the Sioux Uprising would basically prevent at least my state from contributing much of anything to the cause, and even a cursory move in by the Old Northwest regiments would destroy anything they can put up. I expect this state to last a two years, tops.

in fact the population of Iowa during 1860 was 674,913 people but yea taking another glance Transmississippi is kind of fucked. Depending on how the war goes between the Confederacy and America ether they ether die a slow painful death or they are population deprived and even poorer then the Confederacy with their economy basically non existent.

So from what I have gathered the basic pod is that jacksons wins the presdency in 1824 (is this possable). From there he will slowly gut the US bank and enact something simlier to the tariff of abominations. The next step from here is figuring out if that is possable and the best way for the american economy to fall apart from there if it is.

A more general tip I would recommend is not to work backwards from your conclusion! Trying to find a PoD to suit what you want to happen fifty or so years later may be gratifying for what you're thinking of now, but chances are if you put in the research, the ramifications of your PoD will be significantly different from your 'first draft.' That being said, the research guiding your 'posting draft' will be just as interesting for your potential readers, and just as enjoyable for you to write.
