I think an interesting question would be, "would this be an officially communist Hitler who develops a fondness for fascism or vice versa?" I have my doubts on an official "Nazbol" type party actually getting into power, maybe an official fascist party with a view similar to Strasserism could do the job though.

Maybe a Commie Hitler has a hatred for capitalism to an extent that he considers even fascism a more viable ally for their shared hatred for capitalism (although the empire part would be tricky) and his views turn into a combination of both ideologies.

"To tell you the truth, I feel much more sympathetically inclined to the lowliest of fascists than to any of those bloated pigs tearing at the throats of the workers."

I'm working on my first TL, which will be about Hitler growing up in Russia and becoming dictator there during World War 2 (inspired by TLs about Hitler or Stalin living in America, and a recent one about a German Stalin). But the name is what I'm struggling with. Any suggestions?

Another question: which ideology do you think Hitler should follow here, communism or fascism? Maybe even a weird form of "commufascism"? Either way, he's not going to be joining the Allies.

EDIT: I should note that me just announcing this doesn't mean that the TL will happen immediately. I'm only throwing the idea out there. It'll probably be a very long time until I actually start it.

Perhaps young Hitler, who was a socialist, is close to Lenin and is sent with him on the train to Russia as his connection to the German government. Young Hitler is sent to help Lenin and serve as a middle man between him and German military intelligence. At some point he realizes his incredible abilities in public speaking, as he did working on behalf of the German gov't in OTL. He starts to alter the course of the movement itself, and outshines other prominent Bolsheviks by focusing on cultural issues. He attacks capitalism passionately, pointing out the degrading effect it has had on Europe's culture and tradition. This leads to a schism in the movement between the Hitlerists and the Trotskyists/Leninists. Despite these differences, the Bolsheviks rely on Hitler's ability to garner support among the ethnic Germans living in Russia, as well as those who were otherwise drawn to the Green Armies.

Eventually, Stalin and Hitler team up, purging their movement's leadership of any jews. (Something both of them did at one point or another in OTL) This knocks out Lenin, Sverdlov, Trotsky, etc.

What do y'all think happens after this? Can Stalin and Hitler work together, or will one of purge the other?

Very good ideas. Reminds me of some that I've had before for this TL. I remember once having a (now scrapped) idea for Hitler and Stalin switching places, so that Hitler is the Russian and Stalin is the German.

Perhaps Hitler initially holds proto-fascist views (like Hitler did in his youth), but becomes influenced by Lenin once he becomes close to him? But at the same time, he comes up with a strange ideology that revolves around combining elements of far-right and far-left belief systems (an alternate start to National Bolshevism). Perhaps he joins the side of the Reds, but once he actually gets into power this "fascist communism" comes into play. He meets and befriends Stalin, and they betray Lenin, Trotsky, etc. I would very much like to see a strong alliance between Hitler and Stalin, and it should be noted that they will still be "villains" here.
