• Oh......
  • Cool.
  • Yeah, I'd quit too if I had to put up with that kind of crap.
  • Yeah...............................And the host of The Daily Show ITTL recently made a extra episode where they gave Viacom "a verbal ass-whooping". Viacom has now canceled The Daily Show, but Warner Bros. is REALLY getting ready to throw punches about this.
  • NO! Viacom DOES NOT own Lydia. In terms of distribution, think of it as the "DiC model". The studio distributes it themselves, but they are searching for a partner. UPN merely has FTA broadcast rights. Cable rights are going to be sold soon, and so far, Cartoon Network, Fox Family, Animax, Disney Channel, Universal Kids and even Sci-Fi Channel is watching with close eyes.
  • Right. What the film is about, I don't got a clue yet.......
  • The action show tho? I'm brainstorming ideas.
  • I might have the studio do the Ristar, Alex Kidd and Blinx, but we'll see................
  • Yeah.................We WILL see............
  • Well, Starboard just cut them off and is putting their wares so far on Cartoon Network, but hey, at least Universal Kids FOUGHT HARD, but at the end, UK will have a nice revamp.
  • Ok.
  • Now, I'm actually mixed between ADV and a new in-house studio.
  • Okay, JUST HOW BAD was the Paramount+ show?
  • Yep. if Viacom lost that YouTube suit ITTL, I don't think anyone would really be willing to buy much of their remains other than the IPs and the library, and MMAYYYBBEEE someone might buy the studios, but everything else(networks et al), GONE!

Actually, for what I planned, I was gonna revive that for a third label. And it's owned by Viacom ATM, so yeah........already not gonna happen..........

I'm talking about a COMPLETELY new studio built from the ground up(mostly)............
Maybe DreamWorks doesn't screw up in the 2000s and end up selling out to Paramount?

Nice, gave me an idea
given the popularity of the Mini 4WD kits(6 on wishlist) and the Let’s & Go dub. I’m imagining WB getting in contact with Tamiya to work on a US championship with the idea being that the champion gets automatic qualification to the Japan Cup that year.(I imagine that it would come back much earlier as there wasn’t one from the years between 2000 and 2011) which soon evolves into a world championship by the end of the decade(perhaps even introduce a few new shows due to the 3 seasons of Let’s & Go, but there might still be a demand, so a new series might end up happening to keep it around)

Maybe DreamWorks doesn't screw up in the 2000s and end up selling out to Paramount?
How did they screw up?

If I don't have Warner buy Paramount, I could have Viacom split up and then DreamWorks could buy out Paramount themselves.
Nice, gave me an idea

That's a 4Kids dub.

AWESOME!Mation Studios Announces New Plans for 2003
Animation Magazine - December 21st, 2002

Today, the upstart AWESOME!Mation Studios cartoon studio, makers of the new Saturday morning show "Lydia of Naturi", has come forward with plans for the 2003 year. Plans for the year includes the start of production on a new untitled animated film with a undisclosed studio slated for release in 2005 as well as a new season of "Lydia of Naturi" for UPN's Saturday Morning lineup. New projects being worked on is a new Ren and Stimpy reboot, slated for a 2003/2004 release, an untitled action animated series and a new comedy series for Cartoon Network. The new comedy series, entitled "Pig and Owl" follows two animals, a pig named "Abby" and a owl named "Hooster" as they go on random adventures in a small town called "Ogstein Hills".

The new upstart studio, currently headed by Daniel Abbott, Don Bluth, Andi Summerton and John Kricfalusi(who is currently in rehab) hopes that the new studio will eventually become a major source of animated entertainment for people and fans across the world.
Nice to see awesomeMattion Going into making a animated movie But given the fact that it's more less inevitable that Don bluth is going to direct the movie I have a feeling regardless of quality it's going to flop because Don bluth involved and people are probably going to remember his less than quality work first before his actually good films ie land before time The secret of Nimh and the goated Rock-a-Doodle and as for John k I don't think rehab alone can fix the guy You're going to need a shock collar put around his neck to make sure whenever he thinks about kids in a sexual way he gets shocked unless he's into that in which case Remember the advice of Bob Barker

Microsoft, Sega Announces Animation Partnership
Excerpt from IGN.com - December 31st, 2002

In what could be an interesting deal, Sega and Microsoft Game Studios has announced a plan to expand their gaming IPs into multimedia forms, whether movies, TV shows and animated adaptations. So far, an new Sonic the Hedgehog anime has been confirmed for a 2003 release in both Japan and North America, but who will dub it Stateside is unknown, but sources say that Fox Anime Entertainment(nee, Saban Entertainment), 4Kids Entertainment, Starboard Entertainment, Viz Media and ADV Films(who licensed and dubbed the Sonic the Hedgehog OVA) are amongst those in the choosing. Other notable adaptations include anime adaptations of Virtua Fighter, Phantasy Star, as well as a CG adaptation of Super Monkey Ball, a CG/anime hybrid of NiGHTS as well as Western animated adaptations of Ristar and Alex Kidd and a Western/Japanese animated co-pro of Blinx: The Time Sweeper. As of right now, this seems to have a clear focus on Sega properties, but time will tell on if Halo and the like will get a animated adaptation or so.
Now this intrigues me mostly the anime choices Sonic and vf are obvious I'm surprised Phantasy Star got an anime first and not Sakura wars given how big that game is in Japan a CGI monkey ball show Can either be good ironically or we could have a donkey Kong country show for the 2000s NiGHTS however intrigues me the most given the fact that it has one game at this point not counting the cameo in sonic adventure And I wonder how is the show going to be Is it going to be episodic is it going to tell a continuous story maybe a little bit of Both a lot of possibilities with nights

Damn The brothers Warner are dominating this list with Fox Kids and NBC kids just barely holding on oh and we can add yet another L to Nick because they lost Yu-Gi-Oh To who else cartoon Network which is owned by Warner

And as for my thoughts on it all I'm liking it though I do have to ask what is Nintendo going to do with Sega and Microsoft now entering the animation industry I wonder if Nintendo was going to enter as well like maybe hired an animation company to make a Mario anime or make it in the house maybe something else I might be wrong maybe Nintendo we'll just be like in our timeline and not care

Hopefully, this helps give you an idea:

No arguments there.
  • Right.
  • Sure, or......maybe he gets a show on The WB spearheading a new late-night lineup after a potential revamp of The WB?
  • Cartoon Network has Yu-Gi-Oh!. CN would probably take it for Saturday mornings(DON'T) or Disney Channel would take it for Jetix.
  • Ok.
  • Or............an new in-house animation studio could be made to reassure quality and faithfulness to the games.
  • Well, the Halo show doesn't seem to be THAT bad.
Okay so I'm going to cut this thing up in to parts
Ok.
Jesus did somebody in Viacom blow up a building full of glass windows with an army of black cat bombers who where military train under a gargantuan ladder Because at this point Viacom should just change their main theme to All Stars but they can't stop coming

Yeah, but.......................................

I actually was gonna try to poach the Universal Cartoon Studios people to work at the studio.

And I'm thinking of a adaptation or a OTL rejected movie.
and as for John k I don't think rehab alone can fix the guy You're going to need a shock collar put around his neck to make sure whenever he thinks about kids in a sexual way he gets shocked

unless he's into that
Ayo what the Hell?
in which case Remember the advice of Bob Barker
Who's that?
Now this intrigues me mostly the anime choices Sonic and vf are obvious
Right, and another reason why Virtua Fighter is getting a new anime is because of it's INITIAL success on Nickelodeon(prior to the scandal of course) and VF4.
I'm surprised Phantasy Star got an anime first
Well, it should have gotten one to begin with IOTL.
and not Sakura wars given how big that game is in Japan
There's already a Sakura Wars anime. Actually, 2 OVAs and a anime TV series.
a CGI monkey ball show Can either be good ironically or we could have a donkey Kong country show for the 2000s
Well, it would be a more comedic series.
NiGHTS however intrigues me the most given the fact that it has one game at this point not counting the cameo in sonic adventure And I wonder how is the show going to be Is it going to be episodic is it going to tell a continuous story maybe a little bit of Both a lot of possibilities with nights
Ooohhhhh...............

An serialized story, you might have given me a idea.......

What if a Sega cartoon paved the way for many of our beloved 2010s cartoons ITTL?
Yeah seems about right Yu-Gi-Oh and Beyblades are going to war for parents' money
Right.
TMNT Wait in the back with a steel chair to bash them
Well, they do have a new show.
and take the first spot the PS2 and the X/S box fighting it out for dominance while Nintendo is trying to get people to buy the GameCube
Yeah, ITTL, the gaming wars will be a bit more intense, especially since there's a lot more pressure for Microsoft and Sega to perform, and which I'll say, TTL's equivalent of the Xbox(M-S X/S) will sell somewhat better.
And I have never heard of Ray and Gerald the racing brothers so I can't say anything about that
TTL's dub of an anime called "Bakuso Kyodai Let's & Go!!" that was dubbed by 4Kids as compensation for them not getting Ultimate Muscle the same way an earlier pickup of Magical DoReMi compensated for Yu-Gi-Oh!
Damn The brothers Warner are dominating this list with Fox Kids and NBC kids just barely holding on oh and we can add yet another L to Nick because they lost Yu-Gi-Oh To who else cartoon Network which is owned by Warner
Right, but now with a new focus, Fox Kids should perform a bit better, especially with Buffy: The Animated Slayer Chronicles being a gender-neutral hit.

And if Yu-Gi-Oh! does end up on Kids' WB for reruns, it'll be the Nick edits of the Starboard dub as Starboard will eventually make a new CN-friendly dub.
OOOHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

TTL is gonna be very different............

And between that and Sony optioning adaptations for their new G4 and Animax networks, Nintendo is watching with a VERY close eye........

  • Sure, or......maybe he gets a show on The WB spearheading a new late-night lineup after a potential revamp of The WB?
I would want that just as much.
  • Cartoon Network has Yu-Gi-Oh!. CN would probably take it for Saturday mornings(DON'T) or Disney Channel would take it for Jetix.
That's exactly why I said Disney Channel for Lydia's new home. Specifically because Yu-Gi-Oh! is a bigger draw for the network.
  • Or............an new in-house animation studio could be made to reassure quality and faithfulness to the games.
Sure. Why not?
  • Well, the Halo show doesn't seem to be THAT bad.
Yes, but it's how the fans reacted to it that lessened the quality. Then again, that's probably because the fans are projecting their OWN toxicity onto the show, but that's just a can of electric eels waiting to hatch.
Might as well finish the job at this point...............

I might do something to just send the final blow and leave them broke just to get this saga over.
Thank you!
Yeah, but.......................................

I actually was gonna try to poach the Universal Cartoon Studios people to work at the studio.
That sounds a bit rough. On the one hand, those people would want to work for better animation services. On the other hand, being forced to work on mostly Land Before Time sequels would have given those people a less cheerful reaction to the guy responsible for the first movie in that franchise. I know I would.
And I'm thinking of a adaptation or a OTL rejected movie.
Either one of those sound good for the studio's first feature. And with Don Bluth at the helm, there's a lot of unmade movies we could pull from.
That's a good idea, but I think that'd fail VERY quickly.........
I agree on both charges.
Who's that?
I think he's the guy who was an advocate for "fixing" your pets.
Right, and another reason why Virtua Fighter is getting a new anime is because of it's INITIAL success on Nickelodeon(prior to the scandal of course) and VF4.
Oh, so we're getting a different Virtua Fighter anime? While we're at it, maybe a Virtua Cop anime later on?
Well, it should have gotten one to begin with IOTL.
Original Phantasy Star or Phantasy Star Online? I'd be cool with either answer.
There's already a Sakura Wars anime. Actually, 2 OVAs and a anime TV series.
Fair point.
Well, it would be a more comedic series.
I think he was talking about how memetic the 90s DKC cartoon was. That's where the ironic charm lies there.
Ooohhhhh...............

An serialized story, you might have given me a idea.......

What if a Sega cartoon paved the way for many of our beloved 2010s cartoons ITTL?
Honestly, with the concept that NiGHTS has, I'd believe that chain of events.
Well, they do have a new show.
Of course.
Yeah, ITTL, the gaming wars will be a bit more intense, especially since there's a lot more pressure for Microsoft and Sega to perform, and which I'll say, TTL's equivalent of the Xbox(M-S X/S) will sell somewhat better.
So our combatants for this generation are last gen's reigning champ, the video game developer's equivalent to Rocky Balboa and Mickey Goldmill, Rocky's trainer in the first movie, and the figurative and literal "family bundle". No wonder this war's more intense, given the pros and cons of each combatant.
TTL's dub of an anime called "Bakuso Kyodai Let's & Go!!" that was dubbed by 4Kids as compensation for them not getting Ultimate Muscle the same way an earlier pickup of Magical DoReMi compensated for Yu-Gi-Oh!
Fair enough.
Right, but now with a new focus, Fox Kids should perform a bit better, especially with Buffy: The Animated Slayer Chronicles being a gender-neutral hit.
I hope so.
And if Yu-Gi-Oh! does end up on Kids' WB for reruns, it'll be the Nick edits of the Starboard dub as Starboard will eventually make a new CN-friendly dub.
While it does seem like Kids WB got the short end of the stick, people should recall that Yu-Gi-Oh! was actually one of, if not the only thing good on Nick when it was airing over there. Giving that more edited dub a more popular home automatically saves it from becoming harder to find.
OOOHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

TTL is gonna be very different............
Yep.
And between that and Sony optioning adaptations for their new G4 and Animax networks, Nintendo is watching with a VERY close eye........
I hope so. The possibilities of more Nintendo animation are limitless.

Ayo what the Hell?
Okay in my defense that was me trying to tell a joke and making reference to the fact that a lot of people are into being electrocuted I don't know why and I prefer if I don't

I think he was talking about how memetic the 90s DKC cartoon was. That's where the ironic charm lies there
Yeah that's what I'm talking about

There's already a Sakura Wars anime. Actually, 2 OVAs and a anime TV series.
Oh I have never heard of that

Who's that?
The guy who used to host the Price is Rights He's also known for telling people to spade and neuter your pets I think you can get what I'm implying

TTL's dub of an anime called "Bakuso Kyodai Let's & Go!!" that was dubbed by 4Kids as compensation for them not getting Ultimate Muscle the same way an earlier pickup of Magical DoReMi compensated for Yu-Gi-Oh!
Well that's unique Can you give me a brief description what The show about and like

OOOHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

TTL is gonna be very different............

And between that and Sony optioning adaptations for their new G4 and Animax networks, Nintendo is watching with a VERY close eye........
Hinting of what's the come I see with you Nintendo still owning rare I think I can think of a few ideas of what they can do

I would want that just as much.
Cool.
That's exactly why I said Disney Channel for Lydia's new home. Specifically because Yu-Gi-Oh! is a bigger draw for the network.
Oh...................
Sure. Why not?
I was initially thinking it could be a joint venture between Sega, TMS and DiC.
Yes, but it's how the fans reacted to it that lessened the quality. Then again, that's probably because the fans are projecting their OWN toxicity onto the show, but that's just a can of electric eels waiting to hatch.
Right, a can of eels I'd rather not open.
Thank you!
You're welcome.
That sounds a bit rough. On the one hand, those people would want to work for better animation services. On the other hand, being forced to work on mostly Land Before Time sequels would have given those people a less cheerful reaction to the guy responsible for the first movie in that franchise. I know I would.
Right, but this would be different, and I still haven't figured out the whole merger thing yet in terms of which assets gets sold off.
Either one of those sound good for the studio's first feature. And with Don Bluth at the helm, there's a lot of unmade movies we could pull from.
Right. Do you have any ideas for OTL rejects we could use?
I agree on both charges.

I think he's the guy who was an advocate for "fixing" your pets.
Ok.
Oh, so we're getting a different Virtua Fighter anime?
Yes we are.
While we're at it, maybe a Virtua Cop anime later on?
Well, I just found out that there was a planned port of VC3 for the Xbox that got canned. Maybe ITTL, the Xbox port of Virtua Cop 3 is released.

As for a VC anime, sure, but it'd probably have to air on a more mature block/network.
Original Phantasy Star or Phantasy Star Online? I'd be cool with either answer.
Both.
Fair point.
Ok.
I think he was talking about how memetic the 90s DKC cartoon was. That's where the ironic charm lies there.
OOOOhhhhhhh.........Now I get it!
Honestly, with the concept that NiGHTS has, I'd believe that chain of events.
Right, and maybe even this could lead to a resurgence of popularity for NiGHTS.
Of course.
Ok.
Yep. And I'm thinking of a fourth player eventually joining......and actually making it work..........
Fair enough.

I hope so.
Ok.
While it does seem like Kids WB got the short end of the stick, people should recall that Yu-Gi-Oh! was actually one of, if not the only thing good on Nick when it was airing over there. Giving that more edited dub a more popular home automatically saves it from becoming harder to find.
Right, but they'll still release the dub under these edits:
  • Nickelodeon/Kids' WB Cut
  • Cartoon Network Cut
  • Uncut
Yes indeed. After the next post(which is basically a recap of 2002), we'll move on to 2003.

For now, I'll try to have at least 2 - 3 posts a week during the summer if I can.
I hope so. The possibilities of more Nintendo animation are limitless.
Exactly!

We already got F-Zero GP coming, and now I'm starting to think of some more.
Okay in my defense that was me trying to tell a joke and making reference to the fact that a lot of people are into being electrocuted I don't know why and I prefer if I don't
Yeah............people are into that.....kind.....of........shit.....😨😨😨😨😨😨...............
Yeah that's what I'm talking about
Ok.
Oh I have never heard of that
The guy who used to host the Price is Rights He's also known for telling people to spade and neuter your pets I think you can get what I'm implying
Now I get it because I looked that dude up earlier.
Well that's unique Can you give me a brief description what The show about and like
Hinting of what's the come I see with you Nintendo still owning rare I think I can think of a few ideas of what they can do
I wanna hear what you got!

I was initially thinking it could be a joint venture between Sega, TMS and DiC.
A great idea, actually.
Right, a can of eels I'd rather not open.
Same.
Right, but this would be different, and I still haven't figured out the whole merger thing yet in terms of which assets gets sold off.
Fair point.
Right. Do you have any ideas for OTL rejects we could use?
There's the list.
Yes we are.

That should be a good idea.
As for a VC anime, sure, but it'd probably have to air on a more mature block/network.
Absolutely. How about G4?
Best answer.
OOOOhhhhhhh.........Now I get it!
Yep.
Right, and maybe even this could lead to a resurgence of popularity for NiGHTS.
I can't see why it couldn't.
Yep. And I'm thinking of a fourth player eventually joining......and actually making it work..........
I hope that works.
Right, but they'll still release the dub under these edits:
  • Nickelodeon/Kids' WB Cut
  • Cartoon Network Cut
  • Uncut
Three different options for three separate anime dub pallates. Sounds fair.
Yes indeed. After the next post(which is basically a recap of 2002), we'll move on to 2003.

For now, I'll try to have at least 2 - 3 posts a week during the summer if I can.
Great plan!
We already got F-Zero GP coming, and now I'm starting to think of some more.
Yes!

A great idea, actually.

Same.

Fair point.
Ok.
There's the list.
I'm not sure about a lot of those TBH.............

Some sort of retool of either Star Baby, Canine Mysteries, Kandu or Deep Wizardry would probably be best.
Okay.

That should be a good idea.
Ok.
Absolutely. How about G4?
Considering who owns that channel ITTL, No.

In fact, I'm not even sure where to put any of the Sega stuff. I was REALLY aiming towards Nickelodeon at the beginning of the TL, but given what happened now, absolutely not...
Best answer.

Yep.

I can't see why it couldn't.

I hope that works.

Three different options for three separate anime dub pallates. Sounds fair.

Great plan!

Yes!
Ok.

I'm not sure about a lot of those TBH.............

Some sort of retool of either Star Baby, Canine Mysteries, Kandu or Deep Wizardry would probably be best.
Not the ones I was expecting you to look into, but a repurposed idea is a repurposed idea.
Considering who owns that channel ITTL, No.
Yeah, you're right.
In fact, I'm not even sure where to put any of the Sega stuff. I was REALLY aiming towards Nickelodeon at the beginning of the TL, but given what happened now, absolutely not...
Okay, then. If Sonic X is still slotted for SVES, why not put some of the Sega stuff on Toonami and/or Adult Swim?

2002 In Review

2002 was a.......year to say the least. This was a year which saw a bunch of movies release such as Harry Potter 2, Treasure Planet, Lilo and Stitch, 8 Mile, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Spider-Man, The Lord of the Rings 2, Star Wars: Episode II, Ice Age, Men In Black 2 and others, as well as new TV shows like The Shield, The Bachelor, George Lopez, Crank Yankers, American Idol, Monk, Dr. Phil, The Daily Buzz, 8 Simple Rules, Firefly and more. In addition, animation had some new stuff come out with the launch of several new cable networks that airs animation such as Universal Kids and Animax, while the medium would get Buffy: The Animated Slayer Chronicles, Jimmy Neutron, Codename: Kids Next Door, Kim Possible, Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Clone High among others. This year would also be major in news as the US introduced new safety and security laws and even created the Department of Homeland Security after the failed attempt at a terrorist attack was going to occur in New York in September 2001. In addition, this year had one major topic and scandal. The Viacom Scandal, later referred to by many as The Viagreed Incident occured with roots beginning in late 2001 when several Nicktoon creators filed lawsuits against Nickelodeon for unfair treatment. This later turned into a major scandal that affected the entire company and in October 2002, Viacom even sued TimeWarner. On the other hand, towards the end of the year, The Walt Disney Company and Vivendi announced a deal with would see the latter company split off Universal Pictures(including recently acquired USA Networks) and merge it into Disney, creating the first 21st century mass media company. While 2002 had it's ups and downs, we are starting to see a greedy and incompetent corporation go down.

Now that that's over.............We are now officially at the end of 2002, and at the end of the first act and it's been so much fun! Thank you all who supported my here on this TL so far, such as @TheFaultsofAlts, @THEKINGFISH217, @kirbopher15, @Nivek, @vl106, @Mr Red Stone, @NASCAR_Donuts2448, @Tacomaster, @UNIVERSAL.EXE, @ExowareMasses, @lukesams, @Sonny912, @Gavinworld12, @leap123, @Assouf, @Dude-a-Buck, @Lumi_rimu(AltHist) and everybody else that either liked this TL, gave me ideas, helped me or whatever, and I couldn't have made it as good this far without y'all.

This TL will be going on a bit of a hiatus. I have (now) 57 threadmarks here so far, mainly to come up with new ideas, to work on another project and to rejuvenate my creative juices. This TL will return, either for a small post or so once or so every month to reassure this TL isn't dead. I'll be back full-time in August.

This is me, @Otakuninja2006, signing off!

Thank you for making an interesting timeline. But that cliffhanger in the review post is going to eat at my brain like AMC Networks. Not just their cash cow, in fact.
