TL-191 Question: "Honorary white" African-Confederates?

I've been doing some reading on people who had Jewish ancestry and fought for Nazi Germany (very few, but some made it into high positions and were "excused" by Hitler) and began to wonder about this in TL-191. Is there any indication that Jake Featherston and the Freedom Party had a handful of African-Confederates/mixed races who were not targeted by the Population Reduction and/or fought for the Confederacy itself? I recall Featherston had a close relationship with a black soldier during the war, who even warned Featherston about the upcoming socialist uprising in South Carolina, but IIRC he was executed by the Confederate government afterwards.

Maybe Lawrence Dennis?

The closest thing to an “honorary White Confederate” would probably be given to mestizo Hispanic Confederates or Native Sequoyahns. Maybe even towards the few Asian Confederates in Sonora.

When it comes to blacks in Confederacy what is most likely is that the one drop rule would be in force. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-drop_rule
ANYONE who was known to have black ancestry- no matter how light skinned they were and no matter how far back the ancestry went if it could be proven -they would be targeted.I think there is a stong possiblity that known mixed raced people were even considered a bigger threat to white Confederates than other blacks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miscegenation
The only cases of blacks who acheived "honorary white " status in the Confederacy would have been blacks who were light enough to pass as white but they would have been doing that before the Freedomites came to power probably and if not they would have started quickly after. There might have been some cases of such people being active Freedomites as there were some Jews who secertly were in the German military. Although its hard to see how either group could live with themselves over that survival decision. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passing_(racial_identity)#In_the_United_States
Sadly even this group would have probably been targeted as being possibly part black https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melungeon#:~:text=Melungeons (/məˈl,and Sub-Saharan African settlers.

And that would apply only if they didnt have any African ancestry.

No indication whatosever. I cannot see a scenario in which they would show mercy to what they would call 'mullatoes'. I sure as hell don't see a scenario in which Featherston would allow such people to fight for the Confederacy after his experiences in the Great War. He thought Africans weren't as brave as white troops and when he saw them run from the Yankees near the end of the war, that assertion was confirmed.

You're talking about Perseus, one of Jeb Stuart III's servants. I wouldn't describe them as 'close'. In American Front, Featherston had a somewhat neutral outlook when it came to race. Sure, he was as racist as the average Confederate, but he didn't have any fierce opinions when it came to race. In fact, there is one paragraph that implies he had respect for Perseus and Nero after they loaded an artillery shell which saved the First Richmond Howitzers.

Obviously, Perseus felt the same way towards Featherston, hence his warning about the uprising. Of course, these neutral feelings went right down the toilet after the Red Rebellion broke out and the Confederates started losing the war.
As was the case with Hitler and the Nazis there were likely Freedomites who were much more rabidly anti black racists than Featherston himself which is why the horrors of the Destruction would have been so widely carried out on Featherstons orders. That said however there is noting in the text I have seen that says Featherston had any sort of soft spot for any blacks anywhere. Even Jeff Pinkard orders a black man killed at Camp Determination or Humble that he used to work with and didnt think was a partcularly "bad black" . So called personal relationships Freedomites had with blacks previously in no way meant they would go easy on them when the time came. There would possibly have been a handful of exceptions but it wouldnt have been the norm and certainly not any sort of policy...
