    Occupying the CSA will mean a fight to the death- thus, the war will certainly continue on into 1918. The US might find it expedient to give Cuba its independence and return Chihuahua and Sonora to Mexico, as well as set up some sort of black republic, just to cut down on occupation costs. Maybe a Republic of Texas could be created in 1918 like in In At the Death?

    This will no doubt mean at least one major rebellion in the ex-CSA akin to that in Canada. Maybe in the SGW, Britain and France could back Confederate rebels?

    I could also see the US government, more strained from occupying the Confederacy, creating a Republic of Canada in the 1950s as a satellite state to cut down on occupation needs...
