Perhaps the Confederate parties are more big-tent politics based around a key issue? As you say, the Rad Libs have people supporting civil rights, yet others opposed it. So, party of urbans, in a largely-rural country?

Could be. The Whigs also appear to be a rather big tent party; seeing how they contain both the conservative Confederate aristocracy and progressive self-made men like Hugo Black.

Thomas Dewey (D-NY)/Harry S. Truman (D-MO): 281 EV
Henry A. Wallace (S-IA)/Rexford Tugwell (S-NY): 105 EV
Harold Stassen (R-MN)/Smith Altrock (R-CA): 11 EV

We are stepping into unknown territory, illuminated by the great David...

Dewey defeats Wallace in a landslide, but Wallace has reclaimed all the Soc-Rep swing states apart from Minnesota, where Stassen's popularity ensures that state goes GOP.

He also narrowly wins his home state of Iowa. Cuba votes for the first time in a presidential election since 1939, and the first time in the USA. It proves to be a Socialist one.

Harry S. Truman (D-MO)/Irving Morrell (D-KS): 224 EV
Adlai Stevenson II (S-IL)/Earl Warren (S-CA): 167 EV
Harold Stassen (R-MN)/Cecil Schneider II (R-IL): 17 EV

Truman wins in a lesser landslide than Dewey did in either 1944 or 1948. The Socialists are recovering... And the Republicans are not going away...

By the way, Sequoyah has voted in a presidential election for the first time since 1915 and the first time in the United States! And it has proved to be a Democratic state.
