Wiping the smirk and arrogance off the face of the "Western Barbarians" would be fair more satisfying in my view.

Yeah, but I'm not sure if the conquered territories are fully developed for Japanese purposes. If the collapse does occur, then the result would be a group of ex-Japanese colonies having a well developed but ruthlessly exploited economies.

I've come to the conclusion that the emergence of General Ishii Yamada makes no logical sense given the path that Japan most likely would take after the Hispano-Japanese War. I'm going to be making a thread over at the Before 1900 forums concerning what Japan would be like in Timeline-191.

I think I remember hearing DBE tell me Japan's empire will still be around, just a lot smaller and definitely not including mainland Asia.

That's good to hear. For once Japan will not loose all of it's Empire. What parts will it be keeping? Korea at least
