Title for the British Monarch in case of a successful Imperial Federation

In OTL, the British Monarch was given the title of King-Emperor or Queen-Empress. Would this change if the British Empire was successfully organized into the Imperial Federation?

The parliament running the Federation would need to pass legislation granting an alternative title otherwise.

The official title of George V was "George V, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and of the British Dominions beyond the Seas, King, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India." How this would change would depend on the precise nature of the Imperial federation - is it a single state with autonomous regions or a collection of independent states tied together by treaty?

In the case of the former, I suspect the monarch's title would be something along the lines of "George V, by the Grace of God, of the [formal name of the federation] Emperor, Defender of the Faith." With king getting lost as a subsidiary title.

In the case of the latter, it would be something more like the current Queen's style ("Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen of [name of Commonwealth Realm] and of Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth"), so something like "His/Her Majesty XX the Y, by the Grace of God, King/Queen of [federation member state], and of His/Her other Realms and Territories, Emperor/ess of India, Head of the Imperial Federation" in most of the empire, becoming His/Her Majesty XX the Y, by the Grace of God, Emperor/ess of India, King/Queen of His/Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Imperial Federation" in India.

Thank you, that's a very clear answer.

I suspect the official title would be somewhat Hapsburg-esque, with all the countries in the Federation listed separately. Of course, in a lot of circumstances I don't think the full list would be given: probably just "His Majesty [George], by the Grace of God, King of [this country], of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and of his other Realms and Territories, Emperor of India, Defender of the Faith."

Emperor/Empress of the Britiania Commonwealths or just Commonwealth? I always thought a successful imperial federation should be called Britiania.

I'm going to say that the title "King/Queen of the United Kingdom" is probably going to stick around, because the easiest way to achieve Imperial Federation would be to incorporate colonies into the UK with parlimentary representation rather than spinning them off as seperate countries. Something akin to home rule might also happen, and the official name of the UK could get pretty long if every self-ruled section demands to be included. I would suspect, however, that the title of Emperor/Empress would remain attatched to India unless India became independant. Then a new Imperial title might be created, either geographically based or a more general "Emperor/Empress of the Britons", but that might seem too Napoleonic.

This is somewhat tangential, but personally, I think that if Britain was ever in a position where they are forced to leave (most of) India but still retain a large empire, they might create the title 'Empire of Oceania'. I mean, other than some flyspecs and the admittedly vast an populous Indonesia, they did own pretty much every bit of land in that corner of the globe - it's a logical title to claim, especially if the DEI collapses into smaller states which the British Emprie might absorb rather than becoming one independent nation.

I disagree. Imperial Federation only happens if the individual nations feel they are partially sovereign. So you would probably have a list like "By the Grace of God, Emperor of Britannia, King of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia..." etc
