Timelines told in different fashions

I'm looking for some examples of timelines that are done in the forms of News Paper headlines, radio/television interviews, and fake historical texts. Could anybody point to some good ones? I'm looking to do a timeline in this format, and I'ld like to see some examples before I dive in.

Look to the West, Decades of Darkness, Lands of Red and Gold, and A Greater Britain are all good examples of what you're describing.

Personally, I think the best of the sort are Fight and Be Right and World of Laughter, World of Tears. Especially, if you're looking for an excellent example of history told through short snippets from, go with the latter. It's a work of art, plain and simple.

Also, unless you're a master of photoshop, be aware that A Greater Britain and Fight and Be Right will leave you feeling completely inadequate as a map-maker. Like I said, art.

Thanks. Do you know of anyone who is good with photoshop, because I have pictures in mind that would go good with this timeline that I'm pretty damn sure don't exist.

Check the Map Threads on the Alternate History Media forum. The experienced folks post there, and sometimes they even give you advice between condemning your incompetence! ;)

I did one in the form of diary extracts, not sure where it is right now

Talwar just did his Fenwick Challenge as a discussion board piece, very clever!

Also Tom B's Unicorn often prefaces chapters with quotes from alt-hist works

Best Regards

The People's Flag (shameless plug) is in History Book form, and also features newspaper articles, novel extracts and broadcast transcripts from time to time.

No Spanish Civil War began in this scrapbook format of books, magazines, alternate-wikipedia articles and even threads from the timeline's AH.com analogue. Now I alternate it with straight narrative -doing this format, while rewarding, is very difficult if you want to do it right.

Still, I had loads of fun trying to impersonate Churchill and Orwell's style. :D
