You have a time machine that gives you the ability to erase from history one Dictator who you are going to choose Hitler,Stalin, Franco, Saddam someone else your views.

"Shoot the dictator and prevent the war?
But the dictator is merely the tip of the whole festering boil of social pus from which dictators emerge; shoot one, and there’ll be another one along in a minute.
Shoot him too?
Why not shoot everyone and invade Poland? "

Thank you, Terry Pratchett

Franco and Stalin are small potatoes and not worthy of discussion.

Removing Stalin would save - potentially at least - many Russians. But the systemic issues with the USSR still exist. The USSR will still pursue something like Czarist imperialism... err, I mean, Communist expansion.

Removing Hitler altogether makes the Nazis a footnote to history. No one else had the charisma to do what he did. You get rid of WW2 as we knew it, and save tens of millions of people.

I vote Adolph.

Actually I'm not sure you're correct on that. Germany, after WWI was going to be trying something under someone. Hell, someone more sane could be worse, in that Germany might expand rationally yet be quite unpleasant.

I think Lenin would be the best bet. Russia was going to boot the czars, but Communism was not a shoe in for the next system.

Russia would or course pursue it's own interests, but perhaps not with a totalitarian system or with such a "attractive" ideology that would turn it into a global problem.

To my knowledge, Hitler was the starter for world war two in Europe.

Then again, I wonder, who killed more Russians, Hitler, or Stalin? (To my knowledge, Hitler killed about 20 million Russians, and folks say tens of millions of people were killed under Stalin's rule.)

Lenin would be a good choice too. Better than Stalin, because without Lenin, Stalin remains a lowly paid informant for Ohkrana. Russia probably becomes an only authoritarian state rather than totalitarian without the Bolshies.

Germany might have ended up in a different ww2, or might not. Depends on the details and random variables. But you're not going to see the Holocaust, and it's perfectly possible you only have a Cold War, with an eventual thaw.

Well this is a bit ASB,but i think that if i can back...said 1909..and kill at least two hundred persons..well, the XX century will be a better place.
In my list are Hitler,Himmler,Goering,Hess,Lenin,Stalin,Trosky,Bucharin,Mussolini,Togliatti,a bunch of Japanese imperialists..and..Ah,Gavrillo Princip.
But if i had a only bullet..well,no doubt:
Adolph Hitler,right in front.

Mehmed II the Conqueror, if its always a damn fool thing in the balkans im going to what i see as the root of the problem. Butterflies will be..... interesting.

if you go to wien 1913 you can get both Hitler and Stalin
If you go to geneve 1904 you can get bot Lenin and mussolini in the same room.
and of course in a certain room of munich 1938 you can find both Hitler and Mussolini

However I'm conviced that it would amount to nothing.

Does Archduke Franz Ferdinand count as a dictator? Take him out before the Serbians get to him, and you could potentially avoid WW1, although a some kind of European war would probably still happen.

Maybe Kaiser Willhelm then? Stop him from ruining Bismarck's delicate balance of power. No WW1, no Nazis, no Soviet Union.
