Tierra Renegado

This is a remake of my scenarios – El Trato and Reino Renegado, it combines elements of the both scenarios, this also has elements of the TL Terraces and Pagodas.

When Miguel Lopez de Legazpi came to Manila Bay in May 1571, Lakandula was there to meet him. The two first met on May 17, the day after Legazpi's arrival on the bay, when Lakandula and Rajah Matanda came aboard Legazpi's ship to discuss terms with him. Part of these discussions specified that the Spanish would not land in Tondo, and would instead land in Maynila, which had been burned to the ground the year before.

Legazpi demanded to Rajah Matanda and Lakandula to give up the suzerainty of their lands to the Spanish completely something that Tupas had did earlier, rather than make his lands as an autonomous vassal of the Spanish.

Legazpi chose not to regard the proposal of Lakandula since he wanted both Tondo and Manila as his harbors, Lakandula would be remembered as a footnote in history.

The Spanish would choose war over the peace that is made by Lakandula which would make the Spanish retain their annexation and dissolution policies.

The Spanish troops by Legazpi would be defeated on the land of Luzon due to the alliance of the people of the rulers of Manila with the Bruneians, the Bruneian vassals in Selurong or Luzon would be loyal to the Bruneians which would lead later for a Bruneian-Spanish war.

Now that the people of Lakandula are distracted the Kingdom of Selurong or Selurong-Kaboloan or the Majapahit faction would try to war with Lakandula and try to reclaim Tondo, this would be repelled by the Bruneian scion kingdoms in the South but the defeat would give them Strength later against the Spanish and play against the Dutch and the Spanish later, now that the Spanish are warring with their enemies what they should do now is to wait and see and what would happen to the Spanish.

The Kingdom of Selurong-Kaboloan and Gowa(Makassar) in the South would oversee the situation about the Bruneians vs the Spanish as well as that of Ternate and how would they interact with them.

The Chinese pirate Limahong would land in North west of Selurong in Samtoy in 1573 and found that Manila to be a rich area to make a Kingdom since the Bruneians are ruling it, Limahong would vacate Samtoy and decided to create a Kingdom in Manila.

Limahong would arrive in Manila causing more trouble between the the Spanish and the Bruneian Kingdoms, the Spanish apparently learned that the Northern Kingdom has ties with Majapahit and would help the Portuguese, in this point in time the leader of the Kingdom of Selurong-Kaboloan is Malang Balagtas, who choose to watch over the war between the Spanish and the Bruneians in the South rather than participate in the colonial wars as the Kingdom is in a peace treaty with the Bruneians in the South, his likely successor would be his relative Palaba who is also a principal in Namayan.

They would choose to be silent about what is happening in the South since it had nothing to do with them and they would be happy if another power takes the south.

Later Limahong would sack Manila and Tondo ruled by Lakandula and Soliman that incident caused the Spanish to attack Limahong, this resulted in the defeat of Limahong, however the Spanish would take advantage of this by annexing both Tondo and Manila.

Soliman and Lakandula were embarrassed of that incident something that caused them to give up their lands to the Spanish led by Legazpi, however the people surrounding the area would be hostile to the Spanish.

The Spanish would establish their prescence in Maynila or Manila and a new port city, the city is built from the City of Kota Selurong/Maynila and Tundo, the new city of Maynila built from Kota Selurong and Tundo, the main city near the coast would be gated in order to protect it from hostile people outside.

The Spanish City of Manila would rise from the ashes of the city of Selurong and Tundo, which would be used to trade between China and Japan by the Spanish bridging the Spanish Empire to China.

The city of Manila would be surrounded by hostile factions including the Kingdom of Selurong-Kaboloan who claim the City of Tondo and rule the City states of Namayan as a vassal, the King of Selurong-Kaboloan or Celudon apparently wanted to get Tondo, but their priority is their own Kingdom of Selurong or Celudon to the Spanish, the Ybalon territory would be under the Spanish in the same manner as the Spanish conquered Madya-as, however parts of it under the influence of the Bruneians are not conquered.

The current ruling Dynasty of Selurong are a branch of the Rajasa dynasty of Singhasari the product of the marriage of a Prince of Majapahit and a Princess of Tondo or rather sired by a Majapahit Emperor from a wife he repurdiated, the Epics point out that the Dynasty ruling Selurong/Celudon are either descendants of one of the wives of Hayam Wuruk or Raden Wijaya who was repurdiated.

Per the Epics a daughter of the King of Selurong married to a Prince of Majapahit and became the Empress and became the ancestor of the current royal family of Selurong.

In the south the Aristocracy would be related to the Bruneian royalty and relative of the Sultan of Brunei, Abdul Kahar, many decades before the Spanish came the Royalties in the North and South Intermarried for peace to happen between the two domains.

Boxer Codex

The Boxer Codex depicts the Kingdoms of the Philippines in vivid colour. The technique of the paintings, as does the use of Chinese paper, ink, and paints, suggests that the unknown artist may have been Chinese.

It is believed that the original owner of the manuscript was Luis Pérez Dasmariñas, son of Governor General Gómez Pérez Dasmariñas, who was killed in 1593 by Sangleys or Chinese living in the Philippines. Luis succeeded his father in office as Governor-General of the Philippines. Since Spanish colonial governors were required to submit written reports on the territories they governed, it is likely that the manuscript was written under the orders of the governor.

It was said that if the Spanish did use a different strategy, the two realms of Celudon and Comintan would have been conquered by the Spanish because the Kingdom of Selurong is weak, the Kingdom of Selurong would reestablish its contacts with the Sultanate of Demak and Aceh, fellow former vassals of Majapahit, now that it has recontacted Aceh and Demak it has confirmed itself as a daughter of Majapahit, the failure of the Spanish to conquer the Kumintang vassals of Brunei and the Kingdom of Selurong is said to be a failure of diplomacy but the Spanish don’t afford to conquer a head ache to the Spanish diplomacy and the Spanish are better off without them since Maguindanao, Selurong, Sulu and Kumintang conquered by the Spanish would be difficult to incorporate for the Spanish.

It has been said “there would be no Selurong if not for Java”

In 1580

Selurong - NeoMajapahitan Kingdom, ruled by Malang Balagtas and Laboy

Kumintang - Bruneian Vassal, ruled by Magat Salamat

Sulu - NeoMajapahitan Kingdom ruled by Muhammad Ul Hashim

Maguindanao - NeoSriVijayan Kingdom, ruled by Dimasangkay

The Spanish would retain Cebu as the capital of the Philippines due to the failure of the Spanish to expand completely north but it is a blessing in disguise because the land of Selurong is as barren as it can be and its resources can be found more in the other colonies.
