Tibet becoming a superpower and existing to medieval times?

The other possible scenario other than eastward expansion, is Tibetan victories in Afghanistan, Tocharia, Punjab, etc against the Islamic tide or nullifying Islam, against the Sassanids.

This may very well end the Islamic Golden Age and potentially even start a Bhuddist instead. That would be interesting to think about...

EDIT: Bhuddism was kind of controversial in Tibet. The last Tibetan emperor himself was killed by a likely Bhuddist monk.
