I'd think one would lose too much support and absolve itself. There could potentially be 2 popes for some time. If that should occur, the office of pope itself may become obsolete.
If Constance failesI think there would be another attempt at resolution within 20 years. There is a possibility that the resolution reduces the power of the papacy somewhat and is very assertive of the superiority of Councils.
