Three more Borodino class BB`s for Russia .

What is the possibility of Czar Nicholas ordering a further three ships of the Borodino class after the loss at Tsushima straight to bolster his naval forces .
One ship had just commissioned when the war ended and so was still afloat and flying the St Peter so if three were built you would have a group of four ships to form a core for a new Imperial Navy .
It would help that the class was already the most modern class of battleship in the fleet ,and that since five had been built the yards should be able to handle three more .
What would the implications of this be for the 1905 unrest and WWI and the subsequent fall of the Czar from power ?

Why would they do that? The Borodino class pre-dreadnought battleships were a generation behind what was already constructing or pending construction at the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War.

By the time the two Andrei Pervozvanny-class battleships clear the yards, we'll be well into the dreadnought era.

Even if you skip the later class and build three more Borodinos in their place, you're still building obsolete ships that enter service in 1907-08, or more likely 1909, well into the dreadnought era.

Yes that is true but Russia had basically no ships left after the war and since the yards were already prepared to build them Nicholas might think it worthwhile to build three more so Russia would not appear so weak .
Three more ships ,even if they are obsolete is always better than no ships at all and Germany staring down your throat .

The yards were already equipped to build the next generation of warships. Why not order more of those?

Actually, the Imperial Russian Navy probably wouldn't even want more Andrei Pervozvanny class ships
By 1907 it was clear the world was going to dreadnoughts. Thus, I'd follow the British example from the Lord Nelson class and pull the 12" guns and turrets from the two Evstafi and two Pervozvanny, shipped the former's guns northward, and focus on building two 8x12" dreadnoughts. Meanwhile, get moving on building these....

Historically, weren't British and American ships designed with longer ranged operations in mind? More space for fuel and crew accomodations, etc. German & French ships tended to be designed for operations in the North Sea & Med, correct? Less need for on board fuel and crew accommodation - in theory....

Where did the Russian built pre-dreadnaughts fit in that spectrum? Long/Short range - roomy/cramped?

Russia`s main areas of operation are the Baltic and Black seas .Areas were the sort of long legged ships built by the US ,Japan and UK would have been to much in the narrow confines of those seas .Russian naval requirements were similar to that of Italy who also operated in a limited area of operation .Short legged vessels nonetheless packing extensive firepower for their class were the norm .
