If the Netherlands became a puppet state of the Third Reich early on in World War II. In my view, the primary implications of a fascist Holland would be in regards to the fate of the Dutch East Indies. If the Indies stayed loyal to the Allies, the impact on the war would likely be minimal. If, however, the Indies were ceded to Japan or managed by the Germans it would likely result in a highly strenghtened Axis position in the Pacific. It seems likely that a German or Japanese offensive from the Pacific (with the Dutch East Indies' resources and manpower in tow) could stand a chance of overwhelming the remainder of the Allied position in Indochina and India.
If one were to reach slightly farther, one could also speculate that the Axis could successfully align with Axis-friendly Persia and Germano-Italian Forces in the Middle East. If done early enough (before the USSR and USA were at war with the Axis) the cruicial oil reserves in the Middle East could easily result in a situation far more favorable to the Axis.
Any thoughts?
